I purchased this machine after someone worked on my beloved model 648 and ruined it. Now I would give anything to have that machine back as this one doesn't even come close. The LED light is totally useless, the needle positioning is maddening and difficult to change, the stitch length/width controls are a joke and are extremely unpredictable and inconsistent. The foot control sticks and either chugs along slowly regardless of how hard you are depressing it or suddenly surges ahead. It rarely sews over a basting pin without breaking the needle, the list just goes on and on. This machine was a complete waste of my money. Don't make the same mistake!
back to productI had a Singer for 6 years and the flywheel snapped. I bought this to replace my very reliable machine. The presser foot does not have good response - and the machine does not go very fast. The feature of the threader is wasted on me - just a gadget in the way. The thread cutter is way to high in the back and I end up knocking off the presser foot most of the time. The tension is not consistent. The decorative stitches are inconsistent and depend on how fast you are going on the machine. They vary with the speed so be careful if your project is important. The feed dogs are not very strong. The machine does not like a lot of fabric to sew through - disappointing for repairs.
back to productMy Singer of 27 years quit and the repair man said it would cost more than the machine was worth. I purchased the 7462 because it was similiar to my Imperial. I like it, although for what I sew I need a machine with more umph sometimes to sew the seams. It's been working great since I made a few mistakes on how it works, I didn't take a class, just knew from my old machine what it should do. I don't like the bobbin winding, I liked it better on my old machine where it would wind it in place. But my daughter likes it, I may upgrade later.
back to productI don't own one of these, but I demo them at my store, and I love it! I haven't gotten the chance to try many things with it...I've just been using the simple stiches...but I love it! It works fantastically for me, and it's quiet, which is a nice change from my older Singer. If I had the money to, I would definately buy it, and I definately recommend it to other people!
back to productWow I am reading all the reviews on this machine and I am surprised to hear so many negitive feedbacks. My husband and son bought this machine for a birthday gift over two years ago and I have had no problems so far!!!! I am sorry that some of you have had problems. I would recomend this machine to others
back to productI got this machine as a Christmas present last year and it has been a pain! It worked ok for the first project I worked on but it has not worked right since then. The tension is never right, buttonholes are awful, and stitches are not consistent. Even with a very loose stitch, there are some irregularities, which make it hard to gather anything! It does not matter the fabric because it will mess up eventually. I cannot use heavy materials without having to force it out the back. I would NOT recommend this to anyone especially beginners because it will only end in frustration.
back to productI purchased this machine twice! The first one went back because it froze up. the second one went back because it made a horrbile noise. The light is to dull, the fabric does not feed well. the bobbon did not work properly. I was very disappointed in the Singer name. I also will not purchase another Singer machine.
back to productThe led light is useless! I need a desk lamp to see work area and that gets in the way! Feed dogs don't work, reverse switch is random, tension is a pain, and buttonholes? Supposed to be a snap, done nothing but make a mess of buttonholes with thread clogs! And it's noisy! I'm gonna toss it after 1 year of frustration! Too many issues to recommend this machine to anyone!
