Run, don't walk....
I've given this product the lowest rating because I specifically purchased it for the portable battery option. It's brand new and needs to be charged for 16 hours just to get 15-20 minutes of battery-operated light. I consider it a defective product. Definitely doesn't live up to the hype. Very disappointing. (In the process of returning it!!)

Great AC performance / Poor battery performance
The Rechargeable from OTT-lite is a admirable desk lamp. This folding desk lamp opens up from 0-180 degrees. It has a 13 watt OTT lamp that puts out a fair amount of light. Within a few feet the output is very similar to what you may expect out of a 75 watt lamp. This particular lamp produces a distinct white light with no hints of amber, blue or red. The effect is that it creates a high contrast reflection, letters really stand out from the page and it really makes pictures pop. The battery operation of the lamp is laughable. Light output drops by 75% on battery power. And while I've been able to keep the light on for over 8 hours, the amount of usable light that it produces is almost none.

Door Stopper
The lighting is excellent, but the battery doesn't last. I've had mine a couple of years and if I get 15 minutes on a full charge, I'm lucky. This is on a new battery that OTT sent to me. I complained again about this new battery and never heard from them again. Don't invest in this unless you want a door stopper.

Don't Rely on the Battery Power!
While I love the lumination this product provides, the first test of battery power arose a month after my purchase. We experienced a major power outage and I proudly proclaimed to my family that my OttLite would save the night. Sadly, the fully charged battery lasted only one hour and it continues to provide me an hour or less on battery.

Excellent - don't hesitate
I'm so glad I invested the extra $ and bought the battery version of this lamp. I've only had it a short time but it is bright, well made and it has made beading so much more enjoyable. I love that I can carry it anywhere and not bother with cables, plugs etcetera.

Best of both worlds
This light is great, and so portable! Many beading friends have the non-battery version of this light and wish they did. Great for mobile crafting at friends' homes or classes.

Battery Power is lacking
I planned to use my rechargeable task light for making jewelry at locations where no electricity outlets are available, i.e. classes. The first time I attemped to use it, the battery was dead and I had to plug it in, fortunately there was an outlet available. I have had mine less than 1 1/2 years and the battery will not hold a charge. It is heavy to carry so I will no longer be using mine.

Buying my second one
I love this light. I bought it for portablity to use in my craft room as well as in the motor home when we travel. My hubby likes it so much I am getting a second one. The great thing about the light is that it does not put off any heat and it is rechargeable. The light is great I can use it and have plenty of light and still have the room dark for others watching a movie.
