Description

Envelope Pillow

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd. – Fabric for 14" pillow & piping or 2/3 yd fabric and pkg. readymade piping
  • 14" pillow form
  • 1" decorative button
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. From the fabric cut:
    • One 15"x15" for front
    • One 12" x15" for back
    • One 10"x15" for back.
    • Two half circles from pattern for envelope flap
  2. Apply piping to one of the flap pieces around curved side.
  3. Layer the envelope flap with right sides together and sew leaving straight edge open.
  4. Turn and press.
  5. Apply piping to front around outside edge.
  6. Press under 1/4" on one long side of the two back pieces, fold again and stitch close to edge.
  7. To print the flap pattern, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
  8. Layer pillow: Place envelope flap right side up on front.
  9. Place back pieces, right side down over flap, overlapping stitched ends of back to fit front.
  10. Pin, sew around outside.
  11. Turn and press.
  12. Sew button on the flap.
  13. Insert pillow form.

Triangle Cut Pillow

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/2 yd each two contrasting fabrics
  • 1/2 yd for piping or 1 pkg. readymade piping
  • 14" pillow form
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut one 16"x16" of each fabric for front.
  2. Cut one 12"x15" and one 10"x15" of one of the fabrics for the back.
  3. Layer front fabrics with right sides together.
  4. Draw a line from one corner diagonally to other corner.
  5. Stitch on this line. Cut a seam allowance 1/2" from line. Open and press.
  6. Square front to 15"x15" if needed.
  7. Sew piping around front edge.
  8. Fold under and press 1/4" on each of back pieces. Fold again and press. Top stitch close to edge.
  9. Layer pillow with right sides together overlapping back two pieces to fit front.
  10. Pin and sew all the way around. Turn. Press. Insert pillow form.

Two Fabric Pillow

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1/3 yd fabric for top
  • 1/2 yd fabric for bottom contrast
  • 1/2 yd fabric for back
  • 1/2 yd fabric for piping or 1 pkg. readymade piping
  • 16" pillow form
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cutting:
    • One 6"x17" for top One 12"x17" for contrast bottom One 10"x17" for back One 12"x17" for back
  2. Sew piping across the top of 12"x17" piece.
  3. Layer front top and bottom along one 17” side with right sides together, sew. Press.
  4. Square up front to 17" square if needed.
  5. For back two pieces, fold under 1/4" and press, fold again and top stitch.
  6. Layer back and front pieces wrong sides together. Overlap the back pieces to fit the front piece.
  7. Stitch around, turn and press.
  8. Insert pillow.

Three Button Pillow

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 yd fabric for front and back
  • 1/2 yd fabric for piping or 1 pkg. readymade piping
  • 1" decorative buttons (3)
  • 16" pillow form
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface

DIRECTIONS:

  1. From fabric cut:
    • One 8"x17" for front
    • One 10"x17" for front
    • One 10"x17" for back
    • One 12"x17" for back
  2. Sew piping across the 8"x17" for front.
  3. Layer front two pieces with right sides together and sew along 17" side.
  4. Fold 1/4" under on both back pieces, press. Fold again, press and stitch close to edge.
  5. Sew piping around edge of front.
  6. Mark center of top section of front for center button. Measure out 3" on both sides for outside buttons. Sew buttons to marked spots.
  7. Layer front and back with wrong sides together, overlapping sewn edges of back to fit front.
  8. Sew around outside, turn and press.
  9. Insert pillow form.
