  • Fabrics (refer to pattern for exact yardages):
    • Zebra ombre, beetroot (for skirt)
    • Casa Collection satin, black (for bodice & lining)
    • Crinoline (for skirt)
    • Netting (optional)
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & ironing surface

ALTERNATIVE CHIC BELT:

  • 1/2 yd Faux leather fabric, black
  • 2" Velcro strip
  • Chalk marking pencil
  • Fabri-Tac glue
  • 3 yds of 1-1/4" Satin ribbon, black
  • Basic sewing supplies

DIRECTIONS:

ALTERNATIVE CHIC DRESS:

Note: Follow pattern with the following exceptions for the balloon skirt:

  1. Measure skirt pattern from the waist down to 25" for length of zebra ombre fabric.
  2. Make skirt lining out of black satin.
  3. Measure black satin lining and crinoline interlining from waist down to 21".
  4. Sew bottom hems together and then sew all together at waist. The black satin lining and crinoline are shorter than the zebra ombre to create the balloon skirt effect.
  5. Optional tip: Netting can be inserted between zebra ombre and satin lining to make balloon hem fan out more if desired.

ALTERNATIVE CHIC BELT:

  1. For length, measure bodice and add 1".
  2. Cut an 8" wide piece of faux leather fabric the length from step 1.
  3. Fold in edges lengthwise to center back and glue in place to seal.
  4. Place a length of black satin ribbon along center front. Glue or sew in place.
Note: Check ribbon first to ensure that glue will not bleed through.
  5. Sew or glue Velcro strip to side edges of belt for closure.
  6. Make bow and streamers with remaining black satin ribbon. Glue in place.
