SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

APPLIQUE WALL ART:

  • Fab-lique nursery appliques, 1 per frame
  • Stretcher bar frames
  • Patterned fabric, 1/2 yd per frame
  • Cotton needlepunch fleece, 1/2 yd per frame
  • Steam iron
  • Staple gun
  • Fabric glue

APPLIQUE CRIB QUILT:

  • 5 Fab-lique nursery appliques
  • 1 Quilt top panel
  • 2-1/4 yds Fabric for back and ruffle
  • 1 yd high-loft polyester batting
  • Basic sewing supplies

APPLIQUE ACCENT PILLOW:

  • Fab-lique nursery applique, 1 per pillow
  • 1-1/4 yds Patchwork fabric, or fabric of choice
  • 1 Pillow form, 14"
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Fabric glue - optional

DIRECTIONS:

APPLIQUE WALL ART:

Note: Iron fabrics before beginning project.

  1. Place fabric right side down on work surface.
  2. Layer fleece on top of fabric.
  3. Center stretcher bar frame on top of fleece.
  4. Fold fabric/fleece up and over edge of frame on one side and secure middle with staple. Fold fabric/fleece up and over opposite edge of frame, pulling to tighten; secure middle with staple. Staple down remaining sides. Miter corners and staple in place.
  5. Center Fab-lique on stretched fabric and glue in place as shown.

APPLIQUE CRIB QUILT:

Note: Read all instructions carefully before beginning project. Use 1/2" seam allowances.

  1. Cut backing fabric and batting to match size of quilt top, approx. 36"x44".
  2. Using a dessert plate or large can, trace curved edges on all corners. Cut along traced lines to form curved corners.
  3. Layer batting on back of quilt top; baste raw edges together.
  4. For quilt ruffle, cut seven 38-1/2" strips, two squares wide, approx. 6".
  5. Stitch short ends of ruffle strips, right sides together, to create a continuous loop.
  6. Fold ruffle in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, along patchwork seam. Create 1/2" deep pleats, spaced 1-1/2" apart.
  7. Pin raw edges of pleated ruffle to edges of quilt front, right sides together. Adjust pleats as necessary to fit ruffle around quilt front. Baste ruffle in place.
  8. Place quilt back on quilt top,with right sides together. Machine-stitch together, leaving a 10" opening along bottom edge.
  9. Clip corners and turn quilt right side out. Slipstitch opening closed.
  10. Smooth layers straight and machine-quilt through all layers along seamlines on quilt top.
  11. Attach Fab-lique to quilt top using desired method.

APPLIQUE ACCENT PILLOW:

Note: Read all instructions carefully before beginning project. Use 1/2" seam allowances.

  1. For pillow front and back, cut two 15" squares on the bias.
  2. Using a drinking glass, small can, or jar lid, trace curved edges on pillow corners. Cut along traced lines to form curved corners.
  3. Center and attach Fab-lique to pillow front by sewing or gluing in place.
  4. For pillow ruffle, cut three 35" strips, two squares wide (approx. 6").
  5. Stitch short ends of ruffle strips, right sides together, to create a continuous loop.
  6. Fold ruffle in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, along patchwork seam. Create 1/2" deep pleats, spaced 1-1/2" apart.
  7. Pin raw edges of pleated ruffle to edges of pillow front, right sides together. Adjust pleats as necessary to fit ruffle around pillow front. Baste ruffle in place.
  8. Place pillow back on pillow front, right sides together. Machine-stitch together, leaving a large opening on one side.
  9. Clip corners and turn pillow right side out.
  10. Insert pillow form and slipstitch opening closed.
