SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 1 3/4 yd each, 7 fabrics
  • 1 yd of binding
  • 85"x90" batting
  • Basic sewing/quilting supplies
  • Sewing machine
DIRECTIONS: WOF = Width of fabric. RS = Right side(s). Use 1/4" seam allowance.

1. From each of the 7 fabrics, cut five 5 1/2"xWOF strips, one 6 3/4"xWOF strip and one 12 1/2"xWOF strip.

2. Each large block is made up of one 5 1/2"x91⁄2" recta ngle, two 2"x5 1/2" rectangles & two 2"x12 1/2" rectangles. Make a total of 65 large blocks. Each small block is made with one 5"x5 1/2" rectangle, one 2"x5 1/2" rectangle and two 2"x6 3/4" rectangles. Make a total of 10 small blocks.

3. From the 5 1/2" WOF strips, cut one hundred forty 2" pieces, ten 5" pieces & sixty-five 9 1/2" pieces. From the 6 3/4" strips, cut twenty 2" pieces. From 12 1/2" strips, cut 130 two-inch pieces.

4. For the large block, with RS together, stitch a 2"x5 1/2" piece to each short side of the 5 1/2"x9 1/2" rectangle. Press seam allowance towards 2" piece. Stitch 2"x12 1/2" rectangle to each long side. Press. Make 65 blocks.

5. For the smaller block, stitch a 2"x5 1/2" rectangle to 1 short side of a 5"x5 1/2" rectangle. Press. Stitch a 2"x6 1/2" rectangle to each longer side. Press. Make 10.

6. Refer to photo. Make column row with 7 large blocks, stitching the short ends together. Make 5 column rows.

7. Stitch short ends of 5 large blocks together. Stitch short block to each end of column. Make 5 column rows.

8. Alternating column rows, stitch 10 rows together.

9. Piece backing as needed to form 85"x90" rectangle.

10. Layer backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt as desired.

11. From binding fabric, cut nine 21 1/2"xWOF strips. Stitch short ends together. With WS together and long edges even, press.

12. With raw edges even, stitch binding strip to quilted piece. Turn and whip stitch binding to back of quilt.
