I just made a crib set and used these pads for the crib bumpers using part of the pattern enclosed with the pads and also a Vogue nursery set pattern from Joann's. I did a continuous bumper and I was able to sew through the short edge sides of the bumper pads with a regular foot. I found this to be a necessary step because after a wash, even on delicate, the pads shifted within the fabric cover because I had not stitched them in place. But I was able to shift them back into place and with a little steam pressing their original shape is back!! 100% pleased with this product!
Bought these from JoAnn and was 100% satisfied with the product. I didn't try to sew through these either. Made a 6-sectioned cover with a ruffle on top with a shorter eyelet ruffle to the inside. The foam slid into the 6 sections and I closed the bottom. These are sturdy. They don't smell the way some bumpers do.
Except for the fact that running it through your machine is difficult - you'd be better off making them as removable slipcovers.... these are outstanding to use for crib bumpers! They hold their shape VERY well, and look fabulous. Am buying again to make for grandchild #2! :)
This is the perfect batting/foam for making your own bumper pads. I cover them with muslin and make slip covers for them. so instead of having to wash the entire bumper pad, I just wash the cover that I make. So easy and so cheap!
I used this product to make the bumpers for my daughters crib. I love how thick and firm it is as ti hold it's shape really well. Only down side is becuase it is so dense it was hard for my machine to handle even with a walking foot on it. So it you are into making your own bumbers this is a great way to go!
