Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 skein Sensations TM Rainbow Classic Yarn
  • 3 Buttons
  • Knitting needles size 9
  • Yarn needle

GAUGE: 15 stitches = 4"

DIRECTIONS:

SWEATER:

Back:

  1. Cast on 52 stitches.
  2. Work rows 1 - 4 in seed stitch.
  3. Row 5 -- k1, p1, k1, p1, k to last 4 stitches, p1, k1, p1, k1.
  4. Row 6 - k1, p1, k1, p1, p to last 4 stitches, p1, k1, p1, k1.
  5. Continue pattern established in rows 5 & 6 until back is 14".
  6. Work next 4 rows in seed stitch.
  7. Cast off.

Left and right fronts:

  1. Cast on 29 stitches.
  2. Work same pattern as back.

Buttonholes:

  1. On either right (for girls) or left (for boys) work buttonholes as follows: Work until front measures 8".
  2. On right side row -- k1, p1, cast off 1, p1, k to last 4 stitches, p1, k1, p1, k1.
  3. Next row - k1, p1, k1, p1, p to last 4 stitches, p1, inc 1, p1, k1.
  4. Work 2" and repeat for 2nd buttonhole.
  5. Work 2" and repeat for 3nd buttonhole.
  6. Continue until right or left front is 14".
  7. Work next 4 rows in seed stitch.
  8. Cast off.

Sleeves:

  1. Cast on 34 stitches.
  2. Work same pattern as back until sleeve measures 8".
  3. Work next 4 rows in seed stitch.
  4. Cast off.

Assembly:

  1. Starting at the outer edge sew fronts and back together at shoulders stopping 2" from center.
  2. Match top center sleeve to shoulder seam and sew sleeve top in place.
  3. Stitch front to back from hemline to end of sleeves.
  4. Attach buttons.
  5. Fold down top corners of front and tack in place.

Headband:

  1. Cast on 3 stitches.
  2. Knit each row to desired length.
  3. Bind off.
  4. Sew ends together.
