Quilt size 48” x 60”

SUPPLIES AND TOOLS:

  • Fabric – Note, A, B & C are dark, D, E & F are light
  • Fabric A, B, and D – ½ yard
  • Fabric C, E, and F – 3/8 yard
  • Fabric for side strips – 1 3/8 yards (white in sample)
  • Binding – ½ yard      
  • Backing – 3 ½ yards
  • Batting – twin size
  • Rotary cutter, ruler and mat
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Iron and pressing surface
  • Sewing machine

DIRECTIONS:

Note: Use ¼” seam throughout

  1. Cutting:
    1. From each fabric A, B, and D cut three strips 4 ½” x WOF.
    2. From each fabric C, E, and F cut two strips 4 ½” x WOF.
    3. From side strip fabric cut thirty strips 1 ½” x WOF.
    4. From binding fabric cut six 2 ¼”xWOF strips.
  2. Sew 1 ½” strips on each side of 4 ½” strips.  Press.
  3. Cut 6 ½” blocks from prepared strips as follows:   Fabric A – 15 blocks,  Fabric B – 15 Blocks Fabric C – 10 blocks, Fabric D – 16 blocks,  Fabric E – 12 blocks,  Fabric F – 12 blocks.
  4. Sew blocks in rows as shown in Diagram.
  5. Sew rows together to form basket weave.
  6. Sandwich the backing, batting and top together and quilt as desired.
  7. Trim.
  8. Sew on binding.
