DIRECTIONS:

SIZE
About 3-1/2 x 9-1/2", to fit a standard coffee or tea mug

MATERIALS NOTE
Yarn amount is sufficient to make 4-5 Cozies.

GAUGE
19 sts + 26 rows = about 4" in Beaded Rib.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

PATTERN STITCH
Beaded Rib
Row 1:
*K1, p1; rep from * across row.
Row 2:
Purl.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for Beaded Rib.

STITCH EXPLANATION
Yo (yarn over)

A way to create a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:
1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
2. Take yarn to back, over the right needle. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.

COZY
Cast on 47 sts.
Beg with Row 1, work in Beaded Rib until piece measures about 1-3/4" from beg, end with a Row 2 as the last row you work.
Next (Buttonhole) Row: K2tog, yo, work in pattern as established to end of row.
Continue to work in pattern as established until piece measures about 3-1/2" from beg.
Bind off.

FINISHING
Sew sides of Cozy together for about 1/2" at top and at bottom, leaving remaining 2-1/2" open for mug handle.
With sewing needle and thread, sew button onto edge of handle opening, opposite buttonhole.
