How To Get It
Dritz 5/8'' 1Yds Buttonhole Woven Elastic Black is ideal for maternity wear and to make garments for growing children. The pack contains one 5/8-inch black buttonhole elastic which is super soft on both sides and features a stretchable buttonhole placed evenly down the center. Simply insert this elastic into the waistband while stitching apparel. You only need to move to the next buttonhole to adjust the waistband for making clothes tighter or looser. This buttonhole elastic is both machine washable and dryable.

Perfect solution
I bought the buttonhole elastic for my grand-daughter’s new pants. The length was perfect but the waistband was way too large. This buttonhole elastic was the perfect solution and easy to use.

Unique use for buttonhole elastic FTW
Just as described. I use these in an unconventional way to make an adjustable loop that is used to tether the back of marching band overall-style “bibbers” uniform pants. The loops keep the straps from falling off shoulders and are a way of making the uniform pants fit better in a no-see alteration.

Clever use of buttonhole elastic
I used this buttonhole elastic to keep the skirt of a wrap dress from flying open. I sewed a clear flat button on the inside side seam and on the inside of the wrap hem, each approx 16” down from the waist; then made a “stay” with the buttonhole elastic. I used about 10” of the elastic and buttoned each end to the new buttons. It worked great!

Button hole elastic and growing kids
This button hole elastic is perfect when making bottoms for little ones. As they grow, you can let out the waist so that their clothes fit them longer. Are they smaller in the waist? Take it in by moving the elastic! Love this stuff!
