I ordered this --it is advertised 5o/50 blend--when it arrived it was a stiff hard 70/30 blend. I called customer service and they was very helpful in getting it returned. I don't have very good luck in online shopping either--here I am needing quilt backing and don't have any.
All along, I've thought "muslin" was 100% cotton. Apparently, that's not true. I ordered this bolt, for quilt backings for Christmas gifts - and was extremely disappointed when it arrived. This muslin is 70% polyester and 30% cotton. Why, then, do some of the "muslins" advertised here are 100% cotton, 50/50% poly/cotton, or in this case 70/30% poly/cotton. NEVER again will I order muslin on-line. The closest Jo-Ann store to me is at least 1 hr. away, so ordering was my best option for purchasing. The best advice I can give is to LOOK at the label on the bolt-end and FEEL the fabric.
I thought muslin was 100% cotton which is to be quilted with. Was not happy, so sent it back. Man, does it cost to return. It was $15.00 to send it back, then they are going to deduct their shipping before they return my money. I have always shopped Joanne's till they removed the store here. Dont like on-line because you don't know what you are getting.
I use this material for linings in caftans. material is soft and does not fray from whatever material I am using for the prime. Is heavy enough to make almost any lightweight material non-see through.
This is the best fabric I've ever used for quilt backs - it is soft enough for hand quilting, yet sturdy enough that it doesn't fray. Absolutely positively the best muslin I've ever used.
This fabric is primarily used for theatre applications and is usually meant to be painted. It works perfect for certain applications, but they should carry different weights. It comes in light, medium and heavy weight. Heavy is almost a canvas material.
