Brown Butter Deep Dish Blondies
Hi there! Courtney from Sweet C’s Designs here! Valentine’s Day is one of the most fun holidays to make fun treats for. What says I love you better than delicious, pretty and fun treats? This Valentine’s Day I’m serving up some delicious snacks my kids love- with fun touches I picked up from Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
Since my kids love those fabulous deep dish cookies that you can get at a bunch of restaurants, I wanted to make them one with a fun valentine’s twist- and these brown butter blondies full of white chocolate chips and sprinkles are an amazing treat that my kids love!
I’m also making fun sprinkle toppers for the blondies that go great over a scoop of ice cream to make this sweet treat even more decadent!
Pro tip- these blondies will look darker than others you might have made because of the brown butter (and brown sugar!!). The edges will brown- but are not burned. They are crunchy, perfect and delicious- but a little darker than you might be used to seeing because they started off with brown butter.
Additionally, blondies have a rich, gooey center. When baking, a toothpick should come out clean to ensure it is done- but there will still be a bit of gooeyness – much like a buttery brownie. This recipe is a bit of a cross between a cookie and a brownie- so don’t be alarmed with a softer center!
To make these Brown Butter Sprinkle Deep Dish Blondies, you’ll need:
-2 Wilton Deep Dish Dessert Pans
– Wilton Red, Pink and White Nonpareils
– Wilton Bake Easy Spray
-3/4 cup butter
-1 ½ cups finely packed brown sugar
-1 tablespoon vanilla
-1 ½ cups all purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-½ teaspoon salt
-1 cup white chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a small saucepan, melt butter on medium high heat. Stir frequently and watch closely- you’ll want the butter to turn a lovely golden brown, but not burn. When the butter is a caramel color, remove from pot and place in a large bowl.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Combine sugar, eggs, and vanilla in the bowl with the butter.
Add flour, baking powder, salt and white chocolate chips.
Add sprinkles and mix throughout- don’t over stir or the colors will bleed.
Spray Wilton pans well with cake release spray, add ½ mix to one pan, and ½ to the other.
Bake until toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean- about 15-20 minutes depending on your oven.
To Make the Toppers, You’ll Need:
-Wilton Candy Melts Pan
-½ cup Pink Wilton Candy Melts
-Wilton Red Pink and White Nonpareils
-Wilton Valentine’s Cookie Cutters
-A small dish
In a Wilton candy melts pan, or in a double boiler/microwave, melt candy melts.
Cover small dish in parchment paper, pour sprinkles on the plate.
Pour melted candy melts on top of sprinkles.
Smooth and spread out evenly.
Set in refrigerator and let harden.
When hard, cut shapes out of candy melts.
