Hey guys! Kim Byers of The Celebration Shoppe here. I’ve been on a white furniture kick lately and that means any dark furniture in my home needs to be on guard! This week, I used Buttercream™ Chalk Paint to makeover my entryway table. It went from a dark cherry finish to a chalk white finish in no time!
Once the paint dried, I immediately decorated the table for Halloween and placed it back in the entryway. My office and studio are to the left of the entry and now that this little table is white, it fits in so much better!
● Buttercream™ Chalk White Paint
● Buttercream™ Paint and Wax Brush kit
● Furniture item
● Optional: Fine sandpaper
● Optional: Buttercream Wax
The DIY steps are simple.
Step 1. Clean furniture thoroughly.
Step 2. Paint on several coats, allowing each coat to dry for two hours before applying the next. This table took three coats because of how dark the wood was.
Step 3. Optional – finely sand to give antiqued look.
Step 4. Optional – apply wax to seal and protect furniture.
To liven up the table I added a few fun Halloween decorations: spooky eye printable I created, Martha Stewart creepy spiders, a jack-o-lantern given to me by my grandmother when I was a little girl, and a tin full of orange crème suckers. Oh, and a wood sign, with burlap behind the letters, that says Happy Halloween!
As always, I hope you’re inspired to craft, bake, create and celebrate with JOANN!
