With spring approaching it’s time to turn your black thumb green and plant a few new plants. Whether it be outdoors or in, you will need a few pretty planters to get the job done, so today I am going to share my new favorite way to DIY a planter using faux concrete paint! That’s right, there is paint that will transform your old outdated planters into trendy concrete planters. But even better is that you can get that look without the heft or mess of real concrete!
Hi, I’m Kara from A Kailo Chic Life showing you how to make this easy DIY.
To make your own metallic concrete planters you will need the following:
• Old or new pot
• Folk Art Concrete paint
• Deco Color gold paint pen (available in-stores)
• Paint Brush
• Plants, soil, and rocks
Begin by using the lighter color of concrete paint to paint your pots. Let dry and then use the darker color to come back and add dimension and shading. Once dry, use your gold paint pen to add a few metallic details like triangles, splatters, or words like “GROW”.
The final step is to add your soil, plants, and decorative rocks. Now that was easy, wasn’t it?!
I love that this concrete paint has built in texture. It’s not just an ordinary gray paint, it has little bits in it that make it look like real concrete when painted on any surface. Now I can’t wait to try it on a large wood planter to make it look like those oversized concrete planters you see at the fancy decor stores!
