DIY Upcycled Napkins

Hi everyone! It’s Merrick from Merrick’s Art, and today I’m sharing a super easy upcycle to add some personality to your cloth napkins! I love cloth napkins, and have acquired a pretty good collection over the years, but sometimes they’re just a little too boring. So how about some pom-pom fringe to give them a little updated, modern, and fun look?

Here’s what you’ll need:

Cloth napkins (you can use store-bought napkins, or handmade ones)
Mini pom-pom trim (I bought mine in the bulk trim section at Jo-Ann)
Matching thread

Step 1. Lay your cloth napkins on a flat surface, completely unfolded. Press flat, if needed. Measure your trim to fit along one side of your napkin, and cut accordingly.

Step 2. Lay your trim along the hem of your napkin and pin in place. Note: My trim had a pretty decorative flat edge, so I attached it on the top of the napkin. If yours isn’t as pretty, you can pin it to the underside so only the pom-poms stick out.

Step 3. Sew along the flat edge of the trim with a straight stitch, attaching it to the napkin. Press, and repeat for the remaining napkins!
