Fat Tuesday Graphic Tee

Even if you can’t head to New Orleans for Fat Tuesday, you can make this fun donut inspired Fat Tuesday graphic tee with your Cricut Maker, or your Cricut Explore.

Hi! I’m Kim Byers of The Celebration Shoppe. Let’s get crafty and I’ll show you how to make fun graphic tees, and layer different iron on materials, like this Holographic Sparkle Iron On. It worked perfect for the layers in my Fat Tuesday donut.

I have a couple of different designs, or make your own saying in Cricut Design Space. Make sure you check out my “Live Everyday Like It’s Fat Tuesday” mug at the bottom of this post. I’ll be using this excuse a lot. {grin}

The most important tip I can give you about making graphic tees with your Cricut, remember to mirror your iron on before you cut. The most important tip I can give you about making graphic tees with your Cricut, remember to mirror your iron on before you cut.

Let’s start by visiting your local JOANN or by shopping online at joann.com. They have lots of great Cricut products and iron on colors! For the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday graphic tee, you’ll need:

Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2

Standard Mat

Design Space File – Fat Tuesday Tee

Cricut Tools

Holographic Gold Iron On

Holographic Green Iron On

Purple Iron On

BrightPad

I have step-by-step instructions for you, or if you prefer, you can follow along in this short video tutorial!

How To Make Fat Tuesday Graphic Tee:

1. Open Design Space and resize the design to fit your tee.

2. Cut each layer of color.

3. Weed.

4. Apply each layer separately, adjusting heat depending on your tee and the type of iron on you’re using.

(Tip: Allow layers to cool completely between each application and remove protective layer. Reapply used, less sticky, protective layer before ironing over an applied section.

5. Wear!

You’ll need a lot of the same supplies, except you’ll pick the Fat Tuesday colors up in vinyl instead of iron on. Plus, you’ll want to use Cricut transfer tape to keep your letters together. It’s super easy!
