Father’s Day Handprint Art – Hooked on You Dad!

Father’s Day is almost here and I have the perfect handprint art craft idea for you to whip up with your kids that will make dad smile! Hi! I’m Kim Byers of The Celebration Shoppe. Let’s get crafty!

Hop over to your favorite Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store or shop online for the following:

White canvas, 12×12
Krylon spray paint, Peekaboo Blue
Apple Barrel acrylic paint, Pool Blue, Cool Blue, Cobalt Blue, Neon Blue
Paint brushes
Paint palette
Tulip fabric markers
Martha Stewart dauber set
• Optional: Wax paper, paper towel, scratch paper

Father's Day Gift

Easy How To Steps:
1. Prep canvas – spray paint canvas lightly, and allow 5 minutes to dry.
2. Design – draw your design to give your little one guidance on what the art will look like at the end… or let them just be creative!
3. Handprint – paint hand, smoothing out all areas and quickly make handprint on canvas with thumb upwards. (Tip: Put wax paper under the canvas and palette to keep paint off your table.)
4. Thumbprints – use a variety of blues to place thumbprints around larger handprint fish to show dimension in the water.
5. Embellish fish – use fabric markers to add details like lips, eyes and fins to handprints and thumbprints.
6. Add sentiment – let your kiddo write a message to dad, like “I’m hooked on you Daddy!”

My little guy is so excited to give his Dad his art project and knowing my hubby it will grace his office wall right next to his deep sea fishing pictures. {grin}

In my opinion, capture your baby’s handprints as long as they’ll let you. {wink}
