Four Looks from One Tie-Dye Kit

We don’t know about you, but we are so excited for summer! To us, summer means cookouts, fireworks, days at the lake, and our favorite thing – TIE DYE! There are so many cool ways to color up your wardrobe and it doesn’t have to break the bank. All you need is a few items to dye from Jo-Ann and a Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye kit!

Tulip makes great dyes that are ridiculously easy to use … all you have to do is add water to the bottles and shake and you are ready to get started. Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kits come in tons of vibrant and fun color palettes. For the projects below, we used the Luau kit (Hawaii, anyone?), which comes with five colors of dyes and refills, as well as plastic gloves, rubber bands, and an instruction guide. When we visited our local Jo-Ann, we picked up a few 100% cotton tees, a handkerchief and an infinity scarf to dye.

If you are going to tie dye, you pretty much NEED to create a spiral T-shirt. Let’s just call it what it is: a summer rite of passage. This tee looks great as is, but it’s also fun to hack your shirt and make it a crop top or give it a little fringe. This is your tie-dye shirt, so get as creative as you want with it! You can find full instructions here.

Another classic tie-dye technique is the bullseye pattern! We love this color combo and how the orange creeps into the blue. Add a simple knot to the front (or back) and you have a look that’s great for a trip to the boardwalk or baseball game. Get the project here.

Your summer wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without cool accessories. We made this cool hair wrap by crumple dyeing a white handkerchief in orange and fuchsia. Such a chic look for night or day! Find DIY instructions here.

Another great look we made from the Luau kit is this pretty ombré dyed infinity scarf. For this project, we bought a white cotton scarf and added a punch of color. You can create ombré effects by blending the dyes together with a paintbrush. We completed the look with some white tassels to give it a breezy summer feel. Get the project instructions here.
