How To Make a Welcome Autumn Sign and Decorate Your Entryway for Fall

Hi there! Kim Byers from The Celebration Shoppe here. If you’re like me, you’re ready to swap all your summer home décor for fall! The air is finally cool and crisp, and the leaves are turning those lovely shades of red, orange and gold. Well, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and I have you covered.

This is my fall entryway. Well, the start of it. I’m moving to my front porch next. {wink} The glitter pumpkins (these are just a few of the patterns), ribbon, Cricut supplies, white frame, water picture (isn’t it cute) and cattails are all from Jo-Ann. One stop shopping is the best! And the ‘Welcome Autumn’ sign is a little DIY I whipped up. Want to learn how to make it? It’s actually pretty easy!

How To Make A Welcome Autumn Sign and Decorate Your Entryway For FallOkay, let’s get crafty! You’ll need:

  • Cricut Air Machine
  • Cricut Cutting Mat (light weight adhesive works best for vinyl and window cling)
  • Cricut White Window Cling
  • Cricut Orange Window Cling
  • Cricut Midnight Black Vinyl
  • Cricut Transfer Tape
  • White 12×12 frame
  • Cricut Design Space, my arrangement minus the pumpkin
  • Kim Byers Design, Pumpkin SVG File
  • Optional: Command Strip Hanger (when you don’t want a nail in the wall!)

Super simple DIY:

  1. Frame – remove the back, clean the glass, and tape the glass into place. It will hang on the wall with no back.
  2. Design Space – open this file which includes the wreath and text. Keep or edit the text. It can say anything you like, “Happy Fall Y’All” or “Welcome Fall”. Then download my pumpkin SVG file and upload it to Cricut Design Space.
  3. Cut text and pumpkin stem – hide all other components, group, and cut the text and pumpkin stem on vinyl first. Using transfer tape, attach the design to the wall. You may want to hang the glass frame and measure as you go.
  4. Group remaining colors and cut – remember, before sending a color to cut, hide the others and “group” the items you’re cutting so that they can be easily transferred to the wall or glass. This will allow for easy placement.
  5. Transfer – using transfer tape, apply text and stem to wall.
  6. Peel and apply – add white wreath to glass. It’s sized to fit inside of a 12×12 frame. Do the same with the pumpkin pieces. I recommend hanging the frame on the wall, so you can see the stem through the glass, placing the center pumpkin piece and then placing the rest.

It’s amazing what a bit more color and contour can do to a random cake plate or piece of home décor. I just couldn’t resist this black ribbon with a hint of glitter. Add the smaller ruffle orange ribbon as an overlay and the cake plate is the perfect pumpkin stand. Plus, the glitter in the ribbon helps tie the bling in the pumpkins to the rest of the entry table.
