Paper Crafted Holiday Cards

Holiday season is the time of year that even the most novice crafters will try their hand at creating something handmade.

…and of all the projects that are easy and doable, handmade cards are at the tippy-top of the list. I started out as a card maker and for years, I used stamps, paper, stickers and more to create personalized cards and stationery.

Today, I’m going back to my roots with a few super easy tutorials on how you can create your own holiday cards this year. Each technique is simple and uses supplies you can find in the paper crafting section of you local JOANN store.

MAKING CARDS WITH PATTERNED PAPER
One of the simplest ways to make a card is to use your favorite patterned paper. You can find tons of patterns are JOANN and there are several wintery, holiday options in the mix. I especially love the sheets of patterned paper that are divided into rectangular segments. They are perfectly sized to decorate the front of a card. Here’s how it’s done:

SUPPLIES:

• Glue Stick

• Tape Runner

• Craft Knife

• Pre-folded cards and envelopes

• Sheets of patterned paper

• At least one sheet of divided patterned paper like the one pictured

Start by applying the glue stick over the entire front of the folded card

Adhere the patterned paper onto the front of the card, then Use a craft knife to trim all the excess from around the edges.

Last, use the tape runner to adhere rectangles from the patterned paper. It’s that simple!

MAKING HOLIDAY CARDS WITH STAMPS
Stamps are such a fun and versatile tool for creating your own cards. The best part is that you can keep the stamps forever and use them again and again! JOANN carries a big selection of clear stamps and woodmounted stamps in holiday motifs.

You’ll need:

• Stamps and stamp pad

• Prefolded cards and envelopes

• Stickles Glitter Glue

• Scissors (not pictured)

• Foam adhesive squares (not pictured)

Start by inking your stamp on the stamp pad, then pressing it firmly onto the folded card. I used the Rubber Stamping Pad available at JOANN to give myself a nice stamping surface. This helps ensure an even stamped impression.

Next, stamp another image on a piece of paper, cut it out and add Stickles for dimension and color.

Use foam adhesive squares to adhere the cut out image on top of the stamped image on the card. This gives awesome dimension to a simple card.

Last, add a stamped greeting to the front of your card!
