Spring has definitely sprung…at least at your JOANN store! The temps may still be a bit chilly in your part of the world, but you’ll certainly feel a bit warmer if you wander down a few aisles of colorful faux flowers and lush green wreaths. That’s exactly what I did as I shopped for a few goodies to create this easy and gift-worthy Saint Patrick’s Day basket.
The key to a good gift basket is to grab lots of little items to embellish and fill it up, so your recipient feels extra special.
For this basket, I scoured the aisles for stickers, pom-pom trim, wood shapes, paint and florals. Together these will add lots of handmade elements to my basket. For the actual basket – I found an adorable wire one in the clearance section of my Joann store! I added a coat of green spray paint to really drive home the St. Paddy’s Day feel. Be sure to check out the clearance sections at your store – you never know what gems you might find!
First, I created a mini arrangement of flowers using a mason jar and lid inserts that quickly transform the jar into a flower vase. Even though I filled my jar with faux blooms, the recipient of your gift basket will love using it for fresh flowers throughout the year. It’s a great addition to any gift basket.
I knew I wanted a fabric element in my gift basket, so I created a quick tea towel using glitter iron-on material and green pom-pom trim. I used my Cricut Explore to cut the iron-on material into small shamrock shapes. If you don’t have a Cricut Explore, you can easily use scissors or even a paper punch, to create the same look.
I finished off the gift basket with a few food items with chalkboard labels and painted wood shamrock with a personalized, handwritten message.
