So who is writing for this blog, anyways? We've put together an all-star team of Jo-Ann Team Members and some of our favorite bloggers to bring you all the latest in DIY projects, sewing, decorating and more. We're so excited for you to meet the The Creative Spark blog team, they've got a lot in store for you!
Jessica Abbott – Contributor
Meet Jessica, founder and editor of The Sewing Rabbit, a blog that focuses on sewing and shining a light on the handmade community. A lifestyle seamstress, Jessica publishes witty sewing projects, craft DIYs, articles, and more daily.
Jessica has embroidered for as long as she can remember. She’s sewn on the machine for eight years, and started blogging five years ago. Jessica loves it all, and simply doesn’t understand why everybody in the world doesn’t share her passion. “I mean…who are those people?! Lol.” Her favorite thing in life is a good, old-fashioned belly laugh – the kind that produces tears. She also loves chocolate, wine and, of course, her family.
In addition to writing on her own blog, you can find Jessica contributing to Babble, DIY Network, eHow, and of course…Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores!
Kim Byers – Contributor
Meet Kim, founder of The Celebration Shoppe, a blog dedicated to crafty party and holiday ideas, easy home decor DIY, and whipping up fun foods. Kim is a southern girl living in Ohio, who grew up under the wings of a grandmother that quilted the most amazing creations and a mother who never saw a piece of fabric she didn’t like.
After going the route of the MBA and corporate job, she left that crazy world behind to pursue her passions for crafting and baking and to raise her two young boys (which often entails hiking off trail, catching frogs and enthusiastically cheering for every sport they want to play… which is all of them) with her husband of 18 years.
Kim believes that the little details matter and prefers hanging out with her family over a night on the town. She loves to read, although she hasn’t read a novel of her own choosing in years since her boys select the titles and they read a chapter each night together before bed. She’s an early bird and most days you can find her sipping coffee while she sketches, crafts, styles and photographs her latest idea in her home studio.
Beckie Farrant – Contributor
Beckie Farrant is the founder of Infarrantly Creative. On IC she chronicles her adventures in home remodel (yep she can build!), interior design (she loves bold color), and creative craft and gift ideas (she wields a hot glue gun with the best of them).
Beckie will be showcasing plenty of inexpensive ideas to make your home unique and gift ideas you would be proud to give. Beckie lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband of 16 years, Tim, and their two children, Isaac and Kayla.
Abby Smith - Contributor
As the creator behind Sew Much Ado, Abby Smith has loved to sew since she was a little girl. She grew up sewing her own clothes, and while most of her other hobbies didn’t stick (cello, trombone, tennis, boxing), her love for sewing and DIY projects flourished.
Abby loves to create everything from clothing to home decor projects, and strives to always teach you a new skill or tip that will make you proud of yourself. She is a sucker for practicality, and loves to share projects that will inexpensively make your life both easier and more beautiful. Abby lives outside of Seattle with her four children and husband.

From weddings and holiday parties to corporate functions and fundraisers, she loves creating the perfect details to make an event pop. Emily is smitten for all things floral and decor, and spends countless hours looking at ideas and inspiration.
Emily's love for all types of events and parties stems from childhood. Her parents placed a huge emphasis on decorating and celebrating events and holidays from the time she was young. She loves creating a "wow factor" by impressing guests, showcasing details and exceeding expectations. She will show you tips and tricks on achieving this on The Creative Spark.
