Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best!! I love the Boye hooks! Wish they were more available in stores. Boye products go way back. My grandmother even liked using their products!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boyde and only Boyde I do not like the Susan Bates hooks. It is difficult to use them and my crocheting is losser. I find that the yarn splits less when using Boyde and I enjoy crocheting more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST Over YEARS of Use After reading several reviews. I saw two things stand out. One folks speaking about Tension. I've always controlled tension with my fingers holding the yarn. This is a learned with practice "art" to crocheting. I control tension, not my needle. This being said. I like Boye needles and have used them for years. Both Knitting and Crocheting. I enjoy the smooth flow of the yarn over the needle, the perfect head allows entry into even the most stubburn areas when working tight "on purpose". The needles are durable, no breaking, nicks, or chips. No complaints ever about these needles. With these I "zoom" through the process of making my blankets, scarfs, gloves, purses, bags, potholders, cell phone holders; they're Excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! - totally a personal preference though I learned on both Boye and Bates hooks and used to crochet quite loosely. (Now that I mainly knit, tension isn't an issue.) Boye hooks are my fav, but for certain yarns (usually novelty ones), the Bates inline head works better. If you are a very tight crocheter, these might be a bit frustrating. It is truly a personal preference.

by from What was I thinking? I bought one of these hooks and HATED IT. I ended up thowing it away. Now the only brand I use is Susan Bates

Rated 2 out of 5 by from fast uniform crocheting, my FOOT I can't believe how much trouble I had with these. My stitches were uneven and too tight. Stick with Susan Bates Silvalume.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Though I learned on Boye hooks, I gained many of my hooks and needles as gifts, so I have some Bates supplies. The lack of taper is awkward on the Bates hooks; I by far prefer Boye and suggest them to whoever I teach. Granted, it was difficult when I crocheted tightly enough to make my hooks squeak, but learning to knit greatly loosened my crochet. Boye hooks are also more adaptable to unorthodox crochet methods than Bates hooks.
