Rated 0 out of 5 by from Not worth buying I bought this set to complete my needle collection with, but I got disappointed. The needles keep on coming loose every few rows and you end up spending time "fetching" the tools to tighten them with instead of knitting. The idea is great, but it definitely needs some improvement. Your best bet is to just buy the regular cable needles - unless you prefer feeling frustrated most of the time you're knitting. I'm starting to wonder if these needles are working great for some, due to different knitting techniques? I knit a variation of the Continental tehcnique (and I do it FAST), so maybe that is why the needles come loose all the time?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love them, but they have their problems My brother-in-law bought these for me for Christmas. As a new knitter I prefer the smaller sized cable needles and use these before I use my straight needles. They are easier on the hands and wrists, than straight needles. The draw backs of these needles are problems with the cables becoming unscrewed from the needles. And my biggest complaint- several of the needles are mushroomed out where the cables attach- which snags on the yarn. I have to try to avoid using those needles all together. With such a high price tag- I would have thought they would be better quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Received as a gift, love it! Love my needle set, I use it all the time. It is great for me because I don't have a large assortment of needle sizes and this covers most of them. Never had problems with the needles coming apart as long as you use the little metal key to tighten the needles onto the connectors. Only downside is that it won't replace your DPNs because the smallest cable still isn't small enough for your smallest projects in the round like socks. Also, I have noted that the bottom of the needles where it screws onto the connector has started to flare out a little (probably from screwing on too tight), which makes the stitches slide less smoothly onto the needle, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I hate to write bad reviews but.... The first time I tried to use this kit with the size 9 tips, the cable snapped at the screw and leaving me with useless tips because half the screw was still in one of the tips and a broken cable leaving me without a long interchangable cable. I have used other circular needles without problems, but with this set, my super smooth merino wool continually snagged on the joins and eventually caused the screw to break when I couldn't get the yarn out of the join. So now I'm out double. With the broken tips I no longer have size 9. Without the cable I can no longer use these cables to work on large projects. So I have to buy replacement tips plus a replacement cable. What A Pain!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Received as gift I had been contemplating the knitting machine. I had one years ago and it was junk! So I had thought they had improved it but when I read the reviews i saw they had not!! So anyway to get to the point, I told my husband I would rather have this set which I had been eyeing for quit sometime. I again read the reviews, but was not discouraged. For i had purchased 2 needles seperately and had no problems with them. I see that some have had problems with them coming apart. If you just check the tightness at the end of each row you will have no problems. I only wish the sizes went higher. That would be my only complaint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I absolutely could not live without my Needlemaster Set. I sail through projects whether they require straight or circular needles. Check out for ideas on many ways to use them and video tutorials for techniques such as 2 circulars in place of DPN's . Get them - especially if you have the Joann 50% coupon. How can you pass these up? Don't! Buying this set has saved me so much $ and brought so much flexibility to my knitting. I've had no problem with needles popping loose from the cords. The tightening key that comes with the set works to prevent that. I think you'll be happy with your purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Older must be better I have had my set for al least 20 years, probably closer to 30 years. The set I bought did not have the 2 through 5 points which I added later. All the needles are color coded so no problem with mixing up sizes. I have done a lot of "large" projects, big afghans all the way up to a queen size bed spread. The possibility of putting enough cables together so stitches are not packed onto the needle is great. I have had the points come loose but only if I don't tighten with the key. My only complaints are that I have stripped point threads on 2 sets of 5 points from over use and cable joints do not always lie flat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great set I have knitted Continental for 55 years, started at five, I am very fast and do a lot of Aran style as well as other types of knitting and I love the versatility of these needles. I have no problem with them coming apart as some have stated. I use the tool to tighten initially when I connect the tips and they stay put. I have a designer pet apparel biz and knit around 50+ dog sweaters a season so they get a lot of use. I knit mostly with dk to bulky yarn weights.
