Received as a gift, love it!
Love my needle set, I use it all the time. It is great for me because I don't have a large assortment of needle sizes and this covers most of them. Never had problems with the needles coming apart as long as you use the little metal key to tighten the needles onto the connectors. Only downside is that it won't replace your DPNs because the smallest cable still isn't small enough for your smallest projects in the round like socks. Also, I have noted that the bottom of the needles where it screws onto the connector has started to flare out a little (probably from screwing on too tight), which makes the stitches slide less smoothly onto the needle, but it doesn't bother me that much.
Extra Set
I have this kit and it is not bad...I did buy it on sale and with free shipping, so was a good deal...I prefer bamboo knitting needles, but these do come in handy when certain sizes are already being used. I have not had any problems with these coming apart....check once in awhile to make sure they are tight...just use the key. Would buy again as it's an extra set of all needles and easy to carry wherever you go....

Couldn't Knit Without It
I have had my Boye Needlemaster kit for 30 years, and while sometimes the cables get lose from the tips, after a while, you get used to tightening the tips autotmatically. My only complaint is that after all these years, I have to buy some more cables because several got lost. The kit is phenomenal for large projects, especially anything you want to knit in the round. It remains one of the best birthday presents I ever got (and I picked it out!)
just awfull
I bought this set this month Feb. 2012 and tried every needle and each time no matter how tight I tried to put the needles together they still came undone. 3 people in my knitting group bought the same set and we all are having the problem. I sent mine back. Look into the reviews before you buy. Very very disappointing.
Ok I guess
I bought this set a few months ago and I have used them for all sorts of projects. They do not come undone if you tighten them with the key. My only complaint is the actual needles are too long to use with the shortest cable. I like making smaller projects and hate seaming so I thought this would work great but knitting with the smallest cable is difficult and I usually just have to buy circular needles if I need the smaller size. Also be careful not to over tighten or you will ruin the needles and your stith won't slide smoothly
Great but....
I keep losing the little connecters that come with it now the store that It was bought from won't carry the them and are phasing out to a cheapie house brand. Where can you find these replacement parts?
