Boohoo.2013

Reviewer: Bonni, 04/06/2013

Got 1034D, read all reviews first. Know it is low end but has plenty of features. Great CD for instruction. BUT, READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. Machine must be oiled before FIRST use, or is really noisy! Learned more about use, threading etc on YouTube videos. OILING instructions on last page of instruction book. But should be on the front of the book.

best investment ever

I got my brother about 3 yrs ago and have used it heavily for making leggings and costumes for my vaulting team. The only thing I have had to replace are the scissors. WATCH OUT... if you sew over a pin it will dull the scissors.. sergers do NOT sew over pins like regular sewing machines!! I have taught lots of youngsters how to sew with my brother serger too! it's an awesome easy to use serger that lasts and lasts. Some of my students purchased fancier sergers and get frustrated.

Great Machine

Works great and is generally easy to thread. There is a lot to remember for adjustments when switching fabrics or stitch so I keep the books handy and mark the pages I know I need regularly for quick look-up. It's a great machine for beginners to use and learn with. I've had it for a ear now and am very pleased with it.

Great Serger

Reviewer: Kate, 03/25/2012

This is the first serger I have ever owned. I had some difficulty with threading it. I tried to tie on the new thread, but was unsuccessful. Once I figured out how to thread the serger I began to have fun experimenting with the stitches. I would recommend this serger, especially to beginners.

Awesome Machine

I bought this back in 2003 and it's still running like a champ. I've had it serviced once and it's a real workhorse. When it's time to replace it, I'll buy another one of the same model. I traded in from a Juki flatbed for this and have never regretted it.

sew easy a novice can use it

I was afraid to even open the box, and open the box after 5 month!! read the manual and watch the video. is sooooo easy to use. I do not have experience sewing, but this serger is super easy to use, I'm glad to own this product

my first serger

Reviewer: carolyn, 11/25/2011

I've been using this serger heavily for 2 years and the only thing I've had to replace are the scissors which are really easy to replace but rather expensive. My biggest issue was learning to not leave pins in!!! it ruins the scissors. This machine is a work horse and is SO MUCH FUN!!!! it is a bit tricky to thead with wooly nylon and I use a needle threader on a stick. But I love my Brother serger!!

Easy to use.

Reviewer: Mary, 10/05/2011

I bought this because of the price. I let it sit for months and months because I was afraid to thread the thng. Imagine my delight and surprise when I managed to thread it in under ten minutes. Then I used it. Beautiful stitch!
