I received the Brother CS6000i for my birthday from my husband. I couldn't be happier. It does everything that I wanted in a sewing machine. I've done some sewing with it and experimented with some of the titches but haven't tackled any major projects at this time. But, I have plans to start some soon. It's a great machine and the price was excellent.
I've had this machine a few years. Just got into quilting. Easy to take to classes (at a local Jo-Ann store). When I've had questions, Brother customer service has been wonderful. Love the needle down button, speed adjustment, needle threader, variety of stiches. I could never sew a straight line before. Now I just slow the speed and even do top stitching. Also own a Brother 1034D Serger and a PE770 Embroidery Machine. Love them all!
I bought this machine (but NOT from JoAnns-that price is TOO high) so I could do machine applique with the blanket stitch; it works very well for this and for general sewing and quilt piecing. The walking foot is adequate, as are the other feet. The light is not nearly bright enough so I have a bendable light that I have attached to the machine head; this does the trick. I have recently purchased a larger Janone because the throat space on this machine is very small and I want to start free-motion quilting of larger quilts; this one is fine, however, for table runners and baby quilts. I like the light weight; very convenient to take to classes and retreats. A good machine for the price, when you can buy it for under $200.
I wore out my first 6000i making almost 100 quilts of all sizes. I replaced that one with the same machine. After 50+ years of sewing, this is the best machine I've ever had! This is what I will buy my grand-daughters!
I love this machine, I have had many machines and do a lot of sewing and quilting. It is light weight and portable. I have not had any problems with it jamming or with the tension. It goes over several layers easily. Im not sure what the others are doing to have problems but It is Not the machine...I highly recommend it for all levels of sewing.
The stitch quality is really there. This is an essential tool in my sewing room. I'm so glad I bought this machine.
I do a lot of quilting with flannel and three layers of fabric. It handles the layers very well even when I am sewing the squares together and have six layers! I am very happy with it.
I bought this machine because I wanted the computerized benefits on it. I have a Pfaff also. I love it being light, but like some of the other people have said the light should be brighter and I have trouble using the ththreader. Other than that. I am satisfied with it. I put it in a table that my friend made me and it works pretty good in there.
