Reviews
Brother Pc420prw Electronic Sewing Machi is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love it, and I hate it! I have two of these machines (I sew for a living). I actually do love this machine, it offers so many features and plusses. I love the knee lift, thread cutter, the button to raise the needle, the speed control and it offers many more decorative stitching choices than the regular project runway machine. However, one of them started skipping badly and the thread cutter broke within 9 months. I had to take it in to be repaired, but it was covered under warranty, so all is well. However, since it came back, I wouldn't say it's running perfectly. As others have mentioned, it will eat your fabric if you start to close to the edge, which is, of course, very frustrating. The bobbin, from time to time, seems to have a nervous breakdown and suddenly there will be a huge wad of thread caught up in the feed dogs. I have no idea what causes this. It happens with both machines. I'm not crazy about the top of the machine, although I can see where it would be a plus if you happen to use regular spools of thread (I use cones). The top of the machine closes over the thread spool, I believe to keep dust out? I'm really not sure what this feature is. I just leave it up all the time. Lots and lots of plusses with this machine, while being very frustrating at the same time. My regular old project runway machine is 4 years old and hasn't had the issues these machines have. Love the extra features, hate the problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jams Blankets slip. When sewing straps for a bag it jams the fabric. Monogram is to small either size. I'm using expensive thread but it keeps snapping. Also if your using a quarter inch foot you have to set the needle position but if you shut the machine off then come back later when you turn on the machine the needle moves back to the left and if you Forget to re position it back your gonna break the needle. Basically every project has been very frustrating instead of enjoyable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed I have always had Brother sewing machines and my last one was CS8150 computerized machine which has lasted me 10 years. I wanted to upgrade and reviewed the Brother PC420PRW. I like the fact that it was a step up from my other one by offering additional features. Specially the pressure foot tension which you can adjust the pressure on the fabric that you are sewing. I have had this machine for a year and found no problems with sewing. My other machine is the backup and all my feet fit both. I also like the table extension that can be brought separately which has made a big difference in sewing and quilting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No thanks. Any time I have ever worked on this machine, it has driven me mad. Very buggy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jams constantly As mentioned in several reviews, this machine jams if you go to the end of the seam. I'm making 40+ small (12" x 12") muslin drawstring bags for an event and I'm lucky if I go one bag without the machine jamming. I'm ready to toss it out the window.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machine I love this machine. I had a Morse for 40 years and was a little leery about a computerized one. This runs so smooth and the stitches are perfect. I am glad I looked around and finally decided on this one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I have owned a Brother previously (not computerized) for over 20 years and the machine was great. This Project Runway machine is TERRIBLE! Broke after a month and to spend the money to fix it I can buy another machine. Like another reviewer mentioned, you cannot start a seam at the end of the fabric but rather in more or else the bobbin will jam. I'm sorry I purchased this...will look at another brand.
