Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wanted to like this I bought this about a month ago and I am so frustrated the amount of time I wasted trying to get it to sew decently. I called and talked to brother even. It just wouldn't keep tension on the top thread. It would do okay for a few minutes and then start making a mess on the back again! So aggravating! I have been sewing for over forty years and this made me want to quit! I took it back! It is light and cute though-sad that it won't sew

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Beginner's Machine My wife thought I was crazy when I told her I would like to buy a sewing machine. There were a couple little things that needed mending and a machine would come in handy. I've been retired for 6 years and I'm always looking for a new challenge and this looked like what I needed. I didn't know anything about a sewing machine, only that I wanted something simple to use with out all the bells and whistles. This Brother's XL-2610 met and exceeded my expectations. This machine is real easy to use and the price was right. Once the mending projects were completed, I decided to try and make something. I decided on a vest. Looking forward to making other things. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone, especially a beginner like myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with my new Brother free-arm machine. Easy to use; bobbin winding and threading are very easy and its quiet and smooth stitching - in other words - it's awesome. THANK YOU (price was great).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beginner's Machine This was the first machine that I when I finally began officially taking sewing lessons. I received it as a Birthday present as was very pleased. As a beginner, I found the numerous selection of stitches appealing and the needle-threader a major bonus. It's only too bad that the needle-threader broke on me after about 3 years of really light use. In addition to that disappointment, some of the metal components bent easily although the machine is safely stored in a hard case. The machine sews fairly good stitches and seams, but jams under the fabric all too often and unfortunately, has ruined one too many a good piece of fabric and has eaten up roughly 2 medium sized spools of thread. After all those mishaps, what have I accomplished? Nothing. I still haven't yet figured out a way to get the machine to sew without any difficulties. Nevertheless, I find this machine to be a good choice for the novice sewer and the price is attractive as one can always upgrade to a better quality machine later

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Been making costumes with it for 10 years! I've been making costumes with this machine for ten years now and I love it. I've sewn everything with it from cotton, satin, pleather, vinyl, PVC, spandex, zippers, trims, even foam! The stretch stitch is invaluable for stretch materials and there's even straight and zigzag stretch stitches. I've never had problems with it other than the normal occasional issues you'd have with any sewing machine (bobbin thread bunching up). That can happen with any machine now and then. The needle threader is so wonderful and easy to use, and the drop-in bobbin is super convenient and easy. You can use any brand of plastic bobbin just make sure it's the same size as the ones that come with it. Love it!
