Supplies & Tools:

- Sewing machine
- Basic sewing suplies
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Cutting board
- Iron and pressing surface
1.Measure the book to be covered measuring the height first and then measure around the book.
2.If you are going to add a pencil flap or a fabric strip, do that at this point and sew in place.
3.Cut the fabric using the height plus 1 inch and the measurement around the book plus 6 inches for the inside flaps.
4.Make a slight 1/4 hem at each sides of the measurement around to hem the flaps.
5.Fold both ends over so you have a 2 1/2 inch overlap on each side with wrong sides together. Pin in place. Sew a scant 1/2 inch along both the top and bottom edges to form the flap. Trim the corners. Turn the flaps right side out.
6.Slip your new cover on the book.
7.You can add a ribbon to tie around the book or sew a button on the cover and a ribbon strip to the back cover to form a closure.
