SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Bernat&® Handicrafter&® Cotton – Nautical Collection (10 oz; 608 yds): Classic Navy or Port or Linen, 1 ball
  • Size U.S. 7 knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle
  • 16" square pillow form
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape

DIRECTIONS:

MEASUREMENT
Approx. 16" square.
GAUGE
20 sts and 26 rows = 4" in stocking st.

FRONT

Cable Panel (worked over 16 sts).
1st row: (RS). K1. (P2. K2) 3 times. P2. K1.
2nd and alt rows: P1. (K2. P2) 3 times. K2. P1.
3rd row: Cr8B. Cr8F.
5th, 7th and 9th rows: As 1st row.
10th row: As 2nd row.
These 10 rows form Cable Panel.

Cast on 94 sts.
1st row: (RS). K15. P2. Tw2R. P2. (Work 1st row Cable Panel. P2) 3 times. Tw2R. P2. K15.
2nd row: P15. K2. P2. K2. (Work 2nd row Cable Panel. K2) 3 times. P2. K2. P15.
These 2 rows form pat. Cable Panel Pat is now in position.

Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 16", ending on a 4th row of Cable Panel Pat. Cast off in pat.

BACK
Cast on 86 sts.
1st row: (RS). *K2. P1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2.
2nd row: *P2. K1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P2.
Rep last 2 rows (K2. P1) ribbing, until work from beg measures same length as Front, ending on a 2nd row. Cast off in pat.

FINISHING
Twisted Cord
(make 2).
Cut 6 lengths of yarn 96" long. With all strands tog, hold one end and with someone holding other end, twist strands to the right until they begin to curl. Fold the 2 ends tog and tie in a knot so they will not unravel. The strands will now twist themselves tog. Adjust length of each cord to fit along 2 sides of Pillow, joining ends in corners. Sew 3 sides of Front and Back tog, inserting ends of Cord into seam. Insert pillow form and sew rem side closed. Sew edge of Cord along seam edges.
