  • Deborah Norville Collection by Premier® Yarns Serenity Chunky Heathers (100g / 109 yds)
    • Charcoal Heather – 3 balls
  • Circular needle US Size 10 (6 mm) 24” or size to obtain gauge
  • Cable needle
  • Tapestry needle
  • Two 14” x 12” pieces of needlepoint canvas
  • Two 4” x 12” pieces of needlepoint canvas
  • One 14” x 5” piece of needlepoint canvas
  • 1 Yd approx. complimentary colored fabric
  • Sewing needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure

Width: 14”
Depth: 4”
Height: 12”

GAUGE:

12 sts x 16 rows = 4” in St st
Save time, check gauge.

DIRECTIONS:

Bottom
Cast on 44 sts. Knit 1 row (WS). Work even in Garter st for 19 more rows. Bind off.

Cabled Panels (Make 2)
Cast on 44 sts. Set-up row (WS): K4, [p8, k6] twice, p8, k4. Set-up row (RS): P4, [k8, p6] twice, k8, p4. Rep WS row once more.

Beg Patt
Row 1 (RS): P4, [sl 2 sts to cn, hold at back, k2, k2 from cn, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at front, k2, k2 from cn, p6] twice, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at back, k2, k2 from cn, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at front, k2, k2 from cn, p4.
Row 2 (and all WS rows): K4, [p8, k6] twice, p8, k4.
Rows 3, 5: P4, [k8, p6] twice, k8, p4.
Row 7: P4, [sl 2 sts to cn, hold at front, k2, k2 from cn, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at back, k2, k2 from cn, p6] twice, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at front, k2, k2 from cn, sl 2 sts to cn, hold at back, k2, k2 from cn, p4.
Rows 9, 11: Rep row 3.

Rep rows 1-12, 3 times. Bind off all sts.
Side Panels (Make 2)
Cast on 12 sts. Knit 1 row (WS). Work even in Garter st for 17 more rows. Bind off.

FINISHING:

Seam bottom of bag to side and cabled panels. Sew seams at sides.
Band
With RS facing, pick up and knit 108 sts evenly around top of bag. Purl 1 WS row. Work even in Garter st for 10 more rows. Bind off all sts. Sew sides of Band tog.
Straps (Make 2)
Cast on 56 sts. Purl 1 WS row. Work even in St st until piece measures 2”, ending after a WS row. Bind off all sts. Sew straps to cabled panels above outer cables.
Weave in ends.

Lining:
Tack pieces of needlepoint canvas to inside of bag, to help stabilize. Line bag.
