Note: Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.

• LION BRAND® crochet hook size K-10 1/2 (6.5 mm) 
• LION BRAND® split ring markers  
• LION BRAND® large-eyed blunt needle  

DIRECTIONS:
GAUGE
9 dc + 8 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm), using larger hook.
BE SURE TO CHECK GAUGE.

STITCH EXPLANATIONS
BPDC (back post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st in front of the BPDC.
FPDC (front post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st behind the FPDC.
dc2tog (dc 2 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop,  yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

NOTES
1.    Poncho is worked in 2 pieces, Front and Back.
2.    To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. Fasten off old color.

BACK
With larger hook and B, ch 89 (93, 97).
Row 1 (RS): Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg ch counts as dc) and in each ch across – 87 (91, 95) dc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working through front loops only, sl st loosely in each st across. Change to A.
Row 3: With A, ch 3 (counts as first dc in this row and in all following rows), turn, working through back loops only, sk first st, dc in next st and in each st across. 
Row 4: With A, rep Row 2.
Rows 5 and 6: Rep Rows 3 and 4. Change to B at the end of Row 6.
Rows 7 and 8: With B, rep Rows 3 and 4. Change to A at the end of Row 8.
Rows 9-20: Rep Rows 3-8 twice more. Place a marker on each end of Row 20 for armholes. 
Row 21 (RS): With A, ch 3, turn, working through back loops only, dc in each st across.
Row 22 (WS): With A, ch 3 (counts as dc), turn, working through front loops only, dc in each st across. 
Rows 23-26: Rep Rows 21 and 22.
Shape Shoulders
Notes 
1.    Shoulder shaping is worked by either sl stitching across sts (at beg of rows) or leaving sts unworked (at end of rows). These skipped or sl sts are not counted as sts in the following row. 
2.    Sts will be worked through back loops on RS rows and through front loops on WS rows.
3.    Rem rows are worked with A only.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in each st to last 7 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc  in next 2 sts, leave rem 3 sts unworked.
Rows 2-7: Rep Row 1 – 45 (49, 52) sts at the end of Row 7. 
Row 8 (WS): Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 6 (7, 8) sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in each st to the last 10 (11, 12) sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, leave rem 6 (7, 8) sts unworked. Place markers on either side of center 19 sts on this row.
Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 1 (2, 3) sts. Fasten off. Skip next 19 sts, rejoin yarn with sl st in next st, ch 3 (does not count as a st), dc in next 1(2,3) sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts leave rem sts unworked. Fasten off.

FRONT
Work same as Back to shoulder shaping.
Shape Neck and Shoulders
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in each st to last 7 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc  in next 2 sts, leave rem 3 sts unworked.
Place markers to mark the center 13 sts for Front neck.
Right Side
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, then dc in each st to last 4 sts, before first marker, dc2tog, leave rem 2 sts unworked.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc2tog, dc in each st to last 7 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 2 sts, leave rem 3 sts unworked.
Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 3 sts, sc in next 2 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in each st to last 2 sts before first marker, dc2tog. 
Rows 5-10: Rep Row 1. Fasten off.
Left Side
Rejoin A with sl st at left side edge ready to work a RS row. Rep Rows 2-10 as for right side.

FINISHING
From WS, join A with a sl st at one side edge and sl st Front and Back tog at shoulders, from armhole to neck edge. Sew sides from lower edge to armhole marker. 
Armhole Trim
From RS, with larger hook, join A with sl st at underarm seam. Work 28 sc evenly spaced around armhole opening. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
Lower Edge Rib
From RS, with smaller hook, join A with sl st in side seam on lower edge. Ch 3, dc in each st around lower edge, join with sl st in top of  beg ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, fpdc in next dc, *bpdc in next dc, fpdc in next dc; rep from * to end. Fasten off.

Collar
With larger hook and A, join with sl st at one shoulder seam, ch 1, work 23 sc evenly spaced across back neck, 49 sc evenly spaced across front neck; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), sk first st, dc in each st around; join with sl st in beg ch-3 – 72 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), fpdc in next dc, * bpdc in next dc, fpdc in next dc; rep from * around; join with sl st in beg ch-3.
Rep Rnd 2 until collar measures about 4 in. (10 cm). 
Change to smaller hook and rep Rnd 2 until collar measures 6 1/2 in. (16.5 cm) from beg.
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
