SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Sculpey® Souffle™ clay: Concrete, Canary, Igloo
  • Clay conditioning machine
  • Sculpey® Super Slicer®
  • Mason jar
  • Ruler
  • Oven

DIRECTIONS:

1. Roll out a sheet of Concrete clay on #1 setting on the clay conditioning machine. Cut out one 12"x1" strip. Press the strip of clay to the bottom of the mason jar. Smooth the seam & press a tiny mark into the top rim of the Concrete clay every 2".
2. Roll out a sheet of Canary clay on the #1 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut out three 3/4" squares. Cut in half & press the triangles to the top rim of the silver strip, where the marks are.
3. Roll out a sheet of Igloo clay on the #3 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?4"x1/4" strips. Angle the sides & press the strips to the jar above the triangles. Adjust angles with the Super Slicer®.
4. Roll out a sheet of Canary clay on the #1 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?2"x1/8" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
5. Roll out a sheet of Concrete clay on the #3 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?4"x3/4" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
6. Roll out a sheet of Igloo on the #1 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?4"x1/2" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
7. Roll out a sheet of Canary clay on the #3 clay conditioning machine setting, cut twelve 11?4"x3/4" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
8. Roll out a sheet of Concrete clay on the #1 clay conditioning machine setting, cut twelve 11?4"x1/4" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
9. Roll out a sheet of Igloo on the #1 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?2"x1/2" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
10. Roll out a sheet of Canary clay on the #3 clay conditioning machine setting. Cut twelve 11?2"x3/8" strips. Angle sides & press the strips to the jar, adjusting angles if needed.
11. Use the Super Slicer® to cut out middle part of the Canary strips from Step 4 to create gap & expose glass between the Canary strips.
12. Bake the jar for 30 minutes in home oven at 275° F. Allow to cool completely.
