  • 1/2 yd each: 4 fabrics
  • 1 yd fabric for large ring and cover on cone
  • 2 yds iron-on fleece
  • 12" Styrofoam brand foam cone
  • 6" round wood base
  • Glue
  • 3 to 5 pkgs piping in 5 colors
  • Fiberfill
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush



  1. Trace two 12" circles on back of fabric. This line will be the stitching line. Cut out 1/2" on outside of circle.
    Trace 6" center circle stitch line, cut 1/2" seam towards inside. Cut 38-1/2"x3-1/2" and 18"x3-1/2" rectangles.
    Trace two 10" circles, trace 4-1/2" center circle, cut 32-1/2"x3-1/2", 14x3-1/2" rectangles.
    Trace two 8" circles, trace 4" center circle, cut 28-1/2"x3-1/2" rectangle, 12-1/2"x3-1/2" rectangles.
    Trace two 6" circles, trace 3"center circle, cut 22"x3-1/2" rectangle, 11"x3-1/2" rectangle.
    Trace two 4" circles, trace 2" center circle, cut 14"x3-1/2" rectangle, 8"x3-1/2" rectangle.
    Cut out and iron fleece on for all pieces.
  2. Sew piping along outside of each ring over the stitching. Clip to stitching and clip inside circle.
  3. Sew a 1/2" seam on short ends of rectangles. Sew long rectangle to the outside of one ring; clip as necessary. Sew small rectangle to inside of ring.
  4. Sew 2nd ring to 1st around outside. Turn inside out.
  5. Handstitch inside ring, leaving an opening for stuffing. Stuff, stitch opening closed. Continue sewing the remaining 4 rings.
  6. Paint wood base for cone.
  7. Cut out pattern for cone from fabric and fleece. Iron on fleece.
  8. With right sides together sew 1/2" seam on side and across top.
  9. Turn inside out, place on cone. Fold fabric around bottom of cone, glue. Glue cone to base.
