CHRISTMAS GINGERBREAD BOYS

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Wilton® food-crafting supplies
    • Roll-N-Cut Mat
    • 9" Fondant Roller (pink guide rings used)
    • Gingerbread Cookie Kit (gingerbread cookies, green and red fondant, mini multi-colored candies, decorating bag and decorator icing used)
    • 5-Pc. Decorator Brush Set
    • Piping Gel
    • 3-Pc. Starter Tool Set (needle tool used)
    • Pearl Dustâ„¢ Edible Accents: Leaf Green, Ruby Red, White, Gold,
    • Pure Lemon Extract
Decorator Preferredâ„¢ White Fondant (2.5 oz. makes 8 treats)
    • Fabric Fondant and Gum Paste Mold
    • Gold Sugar Pearls
    • White Sparkling Sugars
    • Lemon Yellow Icing Color
    • 12" Disposable Decorating Bags
    • Decorating Tip: 3 (two needed)

  • Plastic ruler
  • Food-safe scissors

DIRECTIONS:

1. Make shirt. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out red and green fondant from kit, separately, 1/16" thick. Use knife and green fondant to cut out T-shirt shape and two strips, each 1/4"x1-1/2". Use brush and piping gel to attach T-shirt and strips to gingerbread cookie from kit. Use needle tool from set to score lines in shirt. Use brush to brush shirt with equal mixture of leaf green Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes. Use brush to brush piping gel on sleeves. Sprinkle with white sparkling sugar.
2. Make shorts. Use knife and red fondant to cut out shape. Use brush and piping gel to attach shorts. Use brush to brush shorts with equal mixture of ruby red Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes. Use brush to brush edge of shorts with equal mixture of gold Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes.
3. Make accessories. Use knife and red fondant to cut two strips, each 1/4"x1-1/2 ". Use brush and piping gel to attach to shirt vertically. For buttons, use white fondant and button design from fondant mold to mold two buttons according to package directions. Use brush to brush buttons with equal mixture of white Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes. Use brush and piping gel to attach buttons to ends of vertical strips and gold Sugar Pearls to buttons. Use 1/2" dia. ball of white fondant to make bow tie. Use brush and piping gel to attach to shirt. Use brush to brush bow tie with equal mixture of gold Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes.
4. Make facial features. Tint portion of decorator icing from kit yellow. Reserve some white. Use tip 3, cut disposable decorating bag and white decorator icing to pipe dot eyes and outline mouth. Attach mini multi-colored candies from kit for eyes. Use tip 3, cut disposable decorating bag and yellow icing to pipe hair.

1. Make dress. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out red and green fondant from kit, separately, 1/16" thick. Use knife to cut out T-shirt shape and rectangle, 4"x1". Use brush to brush T-shirt and rectangle with equal mixture of ruby red Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes. Fold rectangle to make pleated skirt. Use brush and piping gel to attach T-shirt and skirt to gingerbread cookie from kit. Reserve remaining red fondant.
2. Make dress belt. Cut two strips of green fondant, each 2-1/4"x1/4". Use brush and piping gel to attach one strip on top edge of skirt. Make a bow from other strip and attach. Reserve remaining green fondant.
3. Make dress accents. For buttons, use white fondant and button design from fondant mold to mold two buttons according to mold package directions. Use brush to brush buttons with equal mixture of white Pearl Dust edible accents/lemon extract. Allow to dry, 3 to 5 minutes. Use brush and piping gel to attach to dress and add gold Sugar Pearls to buttons. Use brush to brush piping gel on dress collar and sleeves. Sprinkle with white sparkling sugar.
4. Make facial features. Tint portion of decorator icing from kit yellow. Reserve some white. Use tip 3, cut disposable decorating bag and white decorator icing to pipe dot eyes and outline mouth. Attach mini multi-colored candies from kit for eyes. Use tip 3, cut disposable decorating bag and yellow icing to pipe hair.
