Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Red Heart Super Saver yarn: 1 Skein each of Pumpkin CA, Cherry Red CB, Bright Yellow CC
  • Knitting Needles: 5mm [US 8]
  • Yarn needle
  • 18 or 19 ounce can -- clean and empty

SIZE: 6" high, 10-1/2" circumference; 3-1/2" diameter.

GAUGE: 17 sts = 4"; 23 rows = 4" in Stockinette stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Work the cover all in one color or in one of our color options as shown:
  2. 3-Color Option: * 3 rows CB, 1 row CC, 3 rows CA, 1 row CB, 3 rows CC, 1 row CA. Repeat from * for stripe pattern.
  3. With color of choice, cast on 34 sts. Beginning at top of cover, work in one color or 3 color stripe pattern and Stockinette stitch (Knit 1 row; Purl 1 row), begin with a Knit row, until 6" from beginning, end Knit row. Knit the next (wrong side) row to form a ridge.
  4. Shape Cup Bottom-Next Row: * Knit 2 together; repeat from * across -- 17 stitches.
  5. Next Row: Purl.
  6. Next Row: Knit 1, * Knit 2 together; repeat from * across -- 9 stitches.
  7. Next Row: Purl.
  8. Repeat last 2 rows once more -- 5 stitches. DO NOT BIND OFF. Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Weave yarn tail through remaining stitches, draw up tightly and fasten securely. Sew seam. Slip cover over can from the bottom.
  9. Holder will fit any 18 or 19 ounce soup or vegetable can.
