Amy Johnson is a passionate instructor of free-motion quilting, and specializes in using rulers to translate longarm quilting techniques to a domestic machine. You can find out more about her on her blog, Amy's Free-Motion Quilting Adventures.

Materials: What you Need

1 . Ruler foot suitable for your machine (extensive guidance is given in the class materials for choosing a ruler foot)
2 . Acrylic rulers or templates of your choice (suggested: One straight ruler, approximately 6" - 10" (15 cm - 25 cm) long and one curved ruler or template, approximately 6" - 10" (15 cm - 25 cm) long with a uniform curve 
3 . Quilting ruler for marking reference lines
4 . Quilt sandwiches (backing, batting, top fabric) to practice on
5 . A pieced top is also recommended, in order to use pieced seams and corners as guides for ruler placement
6 . Fine-tip fabric markers
7 . Chalk pencil for dark fabrics, blue or purple air- or water-soluble markers for lighter fabrics
8 . Hera marker or similar tool (optional)
9 . Good pair of quilting gloves
