Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • Red Heart® Super Saver® Yarn – Coffee, White, Ecru, Pink, Red
  • Size H crochet hook
  • 9" paper mache box
  • Large eye needle
  • Glue
  • Paint for box – Red
  • Remnant of white felt
  • 2" remnant piece of foam for inside of box (9" circle)
  • Polyester stuffing
  • Paper candy cups
  • Small white pearls

DIRECTIONS:

For Chocolate:
Round Chocolate: With main color, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join.
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around (12 sc).
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc), 6 times (18 sc)
Rnd 4: Sc in back loops only of each sc around.
Rnds 5-7: Sc in both loops of each sc around.
Rnd 8: (Sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc) 6 times (12 sc)
Rnd 9: Sc in each sc around, stuff lightly.
Rnd 10: ( Dec over next 2 sc) 6 times. Fasten off, leaving a 6" end. Weave end through rem sc and draw up firmly.

Chocolate Swirls: With main color ch 2.
Rnds 1-7: Work same as Round Chocolate. Stuff.
Rnd 8: Working in back loops only (sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc) 6 times.
Rnd 9: Working in back loops only (dec over next 2 sc) 6 times. Fasten off leaving a 6" end. Weave end through rem sc and draw up firmly, fasten off.
Join swirl color in first unworked loop on Rnd 7 with a sl st, sl st in each free loop through Rnd 9. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel: Ch 18
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (30 sc)
Row 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn, fasten off at end of Row 3.
Fold in half lengthwise and sew tog. Fold into pretzel shape and sew top.

Flower Chocolate: With main color, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join
Rnd 2: 2 Sc in each sc around (12)
Rnd 3: Working in front loops only, {(sl st, ch 1, dc) in next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1} 6 times, sl st in first sl st, 6 petals.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, holding petals toward you, sc in each rem back loop around (12)
Rnds 5 and 6: Sc in each sc around. Stuff lightly
Rnd 7: Working in back loops only, (dec over next 2 sc) 6 times. Fasten off, draw rem sts tog tightly.

Jordan Almond: With main color ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join.
Rnd 2-4: 2Sc in next sc, sc in each sc around – 9 sc at end of round 4
Rnds 5 and 6: Dec over next 2 sc, sc in each sc around – 7 sc at end of Round 6, stuff lightly
Rnd 7: Rep Round 5, fasten off, draw rem sts tog.

Polka Dot Chocolate
Work same as Round Chocolate.
Sew pearls on top of piece.

Flower on top of Box: With white ch 6, join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join with a sl st in back loop of top of ch 3 (18 sts).
Rnd 2: Work all in front loops, (ch 1, hdc in same loop as last sl st, 3 dc in next loop, hdc in next loop, ch 1, sl st in next loop) 6 times.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, holding petals toward you, sl st in first back loop of Rnd 1, ch 1, sc in same loop, *2 sc in next back loop**, sc in next loop rep from * around, end at **, join with a sl st in first sc (27 sc)
Rnd 4: (ch 2, dc in same sc as last sl st, 3 tr in next sc, dc in next sc, ch 2, sl st in next sc) 9 times. Fasten off.

Lace Edge around top and bottom of box. Make 2
Make a chain to fit around bottom and one for top of box.
Sl st to beginning chain being careful not to twist chain.
Rnd 1: Sc in same sl st space.
Rnd 2: Sc in each ch around to end. Sl st to first sc.
Rnd 3: * Skip 2 sc, 5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next sc, ch 3, skip next sc**, sc in next sc, rep from * around end at ** adjusting as necessary, join. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Box:
Trace and cut the felt and foam to fit into box.
1. Paint box and lid.
2. With red or color of your choice, chain stitch a long rope. This will be used to wrap around the box. Chain a few yards, more can be added as you wrap the box.
3. Spread a thin layer of glue around the bottom of box, (do not glue the whole box, glue as you go). Start the chain at the bottom of box and wrap keeping rows close together.
4. Wrap the chain around box top, starting at outer edge to center.
5. Glue flower to top of box.
6. Glue lace edging to bottom of box and around top edge.
7. Place foam into box. Glue in place.
8. Glue felt circle to foam.
9. Place chocolates into paper cups and arrange in box.
