Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • David Tutera™ Lace – amount to be determined by measurements
  • Lining- same amount as lace
  • Drawstring – 4 yds. ribbon – 1-1/2"
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & ironing board
  • Safety pin
  • Pattern paper

      PATTERN:
    • Bust measurement divide by 2, then add 3" = A
    • Hip measurement divide by 2, then add 3" = B
    • Length measurement nape of neck to desired length, add 4" = C
    • Double the length to determine the yardage needed.
    1. On the center of the paper draw line C which is the center of the shirt.
    2. Center line A at the top of line C. Center line B at the bottom of line C.
    3. Draw lines on each side to attach lines A and B.
    4. To print the armhole template, click on the "Download Project PDF" button (above).
    5. Place the armhole template at the top and side of the pattern; trace the template on the paper. Repeat on the opposite side.
    6. Cut the pattern out.
    7. Using the pattern cut out 2 pieces of fabric for the dress and 2 pieces of the lining.

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. With right sides together, stitch the front and back of the dress together along the side seams. Zigzag or serge the raw edges to prevent fraying. Repeat with the front and back lining pieces.

    3. Pin the lining to the dress with right sides together, matching up the side seams. Stitch the armhole edges. Zigzag or serge the raw edges.

    5. Turn the lining to the outside. Baste the top raw edges together.

    7. To form the casing, press the top edge 1/4", then 1” to the outside. Stitch close to lower pressed edge. Repeat with the other size.

    9. Hem the dress by press under ¼’, then 1", stitch close to upper pressed edge.

    11. Hem the lining by pressing 1/4", then 1-1/2". Stitch close to upper pressed edge.
    12. Turn the dress right side out.
    13. Attach a safety pin on one end of strap and weave through the front and back casing. After trying the dress on you can stitch through the ends of casing to keep the strap in place.
