DECO ART-Varnish: Ultra Matte. Use with Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint (sold separately) to deliver an ultra matte; durable; polyurethane finish. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Varnish This is a thick, highly durable varnish once fully cured. It leaves that very matte look chalky paints provide. It's easily applied without brushstrokes using a True Applicator Sponge or high-quality brush. If it's extra thick and leaving strokes, you can place the container in a bowl of hot water. This will thin it out and make it flow easier. Americana Decor varnishes have been the most durable and versatile varnishes I've ever used. The more time that passes, the harder it gets. I have many pieces finished with these products and have only had chipping of paint with hard hits and any varnish or sealer would've chipped. The big bonus is that it's easy to touch up thee areas - a bit of paint and varnish and it's impossible to tell you've made a repair. most topcoats will show spot touchups and you have to reseal the entire area. Not with this.
