Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • One skein Lily® Sugar’n Cream® 4 ply cotton yarn
  • Crochet hook, size US H 8/5mm
  • Darice® pompoms
  • Ribbon

DIRECTIONS:

1. Create a slip knot, chain 4. Sl st in first chain to create loop.
2. Chain 2, work 12 dc into loop, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
3. Chain 2, work 2 fpdc in each of the 12 dc of previous round, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
4. Chain 2, * fpdc in next st, 2 fpdc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
5. Chain 2, * fpdc in next two st, 2 fpdc in next st, repeat from * around, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
6. Chain 2, fpdc in each st around, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
7. Repeat step #6 for the next 15 rows.
8. Chain 2, bpdc in each stitch around, sl st in top of chain 2 to close round.
9. Repeat step #8.
10. Tie off, leaving a long tail. Fold up the end of the hat at the point where the pattern switched from fpdc to bpdc.
11. Use the tail yarn to sew the folded area to lay flat.
12. To create the movable pompoms: cut a piece of ribbon roughly 6" long. Sew pompom onto the ribbon. Ribbon can be woven and tied into the hat where pompom is desired.
