  • 1 yd of 60” wide team fabric
  • 4 1” D-rings
  • Matching thread
  • Basic sewing supplies
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron & pressing surface


1/4” seam allowance
1. Cut 4 - 14-1/2” x 18” rectangles for back pack front, back and lining.
2. Cut 2 - 4” wide x width of fabric strips for straps.
3. Cut 2 - 4” x 6” rectangles for D-rings
4. Press straps in half, unfold, fold edges to center and repress into 1” strap.
5. Edge stitch both sides.
6. Repeat with 4” x 6” pieces for D-rings.
7. Insert 2 D rings through each piece and fold in half.
8. On back pack front, measure up 4” from bottom corners and baste D ring straps.
9. Place one end of strap on top of D-ring strap; baste.
10. Right sides together, stitch sides and bottom of back pack, leaving 1-1/4” opening on each side 3/4” down from the top. Clip corners.
11. Press seam open at the top and edge stitch both sides of opening.
12. Right sides together, stitch sides and bottom of back pack lining, leaving opening in the bottom for turning. Clip corners.
13. Turn lining right side out and insert into back pack; matching side seams.
14. Right sides together, stitch lining to back pack.
15. Turn and press top edge.
16. Stitch top edge 1/4” from top then again 2” from top to form casing.
17. Insert each end of straps all the way through and around back pack and adjust with D-rings.
