Dritz Home Brass Upholstery Zipper Slides & Stops is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice look, unsure of durability in seat cushions.. I bought these slides and stops to go with the matching dritz brass upholstery zipper for camper cushion covers. 1st time sewing zippers, I was surprised with a bit of planning and patience, well placed stops and sewed tightly at ends, they ALL (4) worked perfectly in just the boxing (strip joining top and bottom), and looked awesome! Sewed my 1st cover together, layed the cushion inside, zipped up the sides, and even though it was a tight squeeze, that 4ft long zipper worked like a charm... But with the 2nd cover, after sewing it together, I unzip it to lay in the cushion, and zipping it back closed, the teeth popped open! No matter how much coaxing the teeth would not stay together, or allow me to singularly press them together. I pulled the stops out and tried the slide in a few different ways, and it was rough and denting and misaligning the teeth and just not working all of a sudden. I thought I would need to rip all the seams and replace the entire zipper. I didn't have any of these slides left, so I found a metal slide from old pair of jeans that seemed like it would fit, it had a wider flange in front but the same size rear and similar teeth, and once aligned with the teeth, the zipper went together and apart with ease and worked well again! Happy it was just the one slide that was out of shape. Wish I bought extra to have just in case, or put 2 slides on each zipper (each side) or that I could find the extras from this kit (month or two long project). Probably will buy more in case of future issues, as I do not intend to have to replace the zippers or whole covers. I have 2 more covers to sew, and hoping that these zippers and slides will hold up over time. Next time I would probably steer away from brass (a softer metal, now that I think of it) for any sort of springy cushion, but definetely for clothing and bags because nothing beats the look!
