  • Early Blooms Fabric collection:
    1 yd Master Floral fabric
    1 yd Gerber Bouquet fabric
    6 yds Gerber Bouquet fabric: for backing
    1 yd Packed Gerbers fabric
    1 1/4 yd Daffodils fabric
    1 1/4 yd Daffodil Leaves fabric
    1 1/2 yd Mono Daisies fabric
    3 yds Mono Daisies Yellow fabric
    1 yd Gingham Check fabric
  • Queen-size batting
  • 10" square template material

DIRECTIONS: Read all directions before beginning and press after each step. All seam allowances are 1/4".
WOF = Width of Fabric, LOF = Length of Fabric

CUTTING: cut strips in order and label pieces:

Master Floral: One 11"xWOF. strip. From strip cut three 11" squares.
Cut squares in half diagonally = 6 triangles – Unit 1.
Cut two 10 1/2"xWOF strips. From the strips cut six 10 1/2" squares – Unit 2.

Gerber Bouquet: Three 16"x WOF strips. From the strips cut six 10 1/2" squares on point – Unit 3.

Mono Daisies: Three 7 1/2"xWOF strips – Unit 4. Cut nine 2 1/4"xWOF strips for Binding.

Mono Daisies Yellow: Twenty 3"xWOF strips - Unit 5. Cut nine 5"xWOF strips – Border #2 – Unit 6.

Packed Gerbers: Six 4"xWOF strips – Unit 7. Cut twelve 3"xWOF strips – Unit 8.

Daffodils: Four strips 7 1/2" x LOF strips – Unit 9.

Daffodil Leaves: Eight 3"xWOF strips – Unit 10. Cut eight 2"xWOF strips for Border #1 Unit 11.

Gingham Check: Eight 4"xWOF strips – Unit 12.

Template Material: One 7" square. Cut the square in half diagonally – Triangle Templates.

ASSEMBLY:
1. Stitch a Unit 5 Mono Daisies Yellow 3" strip lengthwise to a Unit 8 Packed Gerbers 3" strip. Repeat for a total of 12 strip sets. Place the Template Triangle base down on the Unit 5 Mono Daisies Yellow strip to cut triangles. Cut a total of 36 triangles (Diagram A1).

2. Stitch a Unit 5 Mono Daisies Yellow 3" strip lengthwise to a Unit 10 Daffodil Leaves 3" strip to make a total of 8 strip sets. Place the Template Triangle base down on the Unit 5 Mono Daisies Yellow strip to cut triangles. Cut a total of 24 triangles (Diagram A2).

3. Sew Step 1 triangles with Packed Gerbers/Mono Daisies Yellow bases to all 4 sides of 6 Units 2 Master Floral squares. Trim squares to 14 1/2" (Diagram B).

4. Sew Step 2 triangles with Daffodil Leaves/Mono Daisies Yellow base to all 4 sides of 6 Unit 3 Gerber Bouquet squares. Trim squares to 14 1/2" (Diagram C).

5. Sew 2 Step 2 Packed Gerbers/Mono Daisies Yellow base triangles to each of the 6 Unit 1 Master Floral half square triangles (Diagram D).

6. Stitch Unit 7 Packed Gerbers 4" strip lengthwise to both sides of Unit 4 Mono Daisies 7 1/2" strip. The width of the resulting strip sets will be 14 1/2". Repeat to make 3 strip sets. Cut across width of strip sets at 4" intervals to make thirty 4"x14 1/2" pieced units (Diagram E).

7. Stitch a Unit 12 Gingham Check 4" strip to both sides of Unit 9 Daffodils 7 1/2" strip. The width of the resulting strip sets will be 14 1/2. Repeat to make 4 strip sets. Cut across width of strip sets at 7 1/2" intervals to make thirteen 7 1/2"x14 1/2" pieced units. Cut across the width of the remaining strip set at 4" intervals to make four 4"x14 1/2" pieced units for use in Steps 8 and 9 (Diagram F) .

8. Make13 Uneven Nine Patch Blocks, each using two 4"x14 1/2" pieced units from Step 6 & one 7 1/2"x14 1/2" pieced unit from Step 7 (Diagram G).

9. Make 4 Half Uneven Nine Patch blocks, each using one 4"x14 1/2" pieced unit from Step 7 & one 4"x14 1/2" pieced unit from Step 6 (Diagram H).

10. Refer to the photo. Lay out the blocks for each row of the quilt. Sew blocks together in rows. Press seams on rows 1, 3, 5 & 7 to the left. Press seams in rows 2, 4 & 6 to the right.

11. Match the seams on each row; sew rows together in 2 sections: Sew rows 1, 2, 3 & 4 together. Sew rows 5, 6 & 7 together. Join the 2 sections. Press the seams in the same direction.

12. Sew 4 Unit 11 Daffodil Leaves 2" border strips together to form 1 long strip. Measure the top & bottom of the Step 11 quilt top. Average the 2 measurements and use the average number to cut 2 border strips. Sew the border strips to the top & bottom of the Step 11 quilt top.

13. Sew the remaining 4 Unit 11 Daffodil Leaves 2" border strips together to form one long strip. Measure the sides of the Step 12 quilt top, average the 2 measurements & use the average number to cut 2 border strips. Sew the border strips to the sides of the Step 12 quilt top.

14. Repeat Steps 12 and 13 for the Unit 6 – 5" outer borders strips.

15. Layer, quilt and bind. Finished size: 82"x96".
