Description

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

  • 1 pkg Burnished metal chain
  • 1/2" Wide novelty cord
  • 4mm & 7mm Nickel jump rings, 1 pkg each
  • 1 Large lobster clasp
  • Two 15x21mm Silver Metal bead cones
  • Buttons:
    • 7/8" Shank button
    • 3/4" Four-hole buttons, 2 each
    • 7/8" Two-hole buttons, 4 each
  • 24ga & 20ga Silver wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Bent-nose pliers
  • Round-nose pliers

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cut novelty cord 12-1/2" long.
  2. Wrap both ends of cord with 20ga wire about 3-4 times on each end.
  3. At each end, thread wire from cord end through metal bead cones. Make a wrap loop at top of cone. Attach 7mm jump rings to loops at both ends.
  4. At one end, attach large lobster clasp to 7mm jump ring.
  5. Cut a piece of chain 2-1/4" long. Attach 4mm jump ring to one end of chain. Do not close. Thread jump ring through the backside of your cord at center. Close jump ring.
  6. Thread wire through 3/4" button shank. Wrap wire at back of button to secure. Attach wire on shank to free end of chain.
  7. Cut 2 chain pieces, each 1-3/4" long. Attach 4mm jump ring to one end of both chains. Do not close. Thread jump ring through the backside of your cord 1-1/8" away from center on both sides. Close jump ring.
  8. Open 7mm jump ring. Attach jump ring to 3/4" four-hole button by threading jump ring through 2 holes. Attach jump ring to the free end of 13/4" chain. Close jump ring.
  9. Repeat step 8 for second 1-3/4" piece of chain.
  10. Cut 2 chain pieces each 2" long. Attach 4mm jump ring to one end of both chains. Do not close. Thread jump ring through the backside of your cord 11/8" away from previous chain on both sides. Close jump ring.
  11. Using one 5" piece of 24ga wire, thread wire through 7/8" two-hole button openings. Secure at back of button by wrapping wire ends around each other once or twice. Thread wire through free end of chain. Wrap wire around back of button and chain a few times to secure. Cut loose ends.
  12. Cut 2 chain pieces each 1" long. Attach 4mm jump ring to one end of both chains. Do not close. Thread jump ring through the backside of your cord 3/4" away from previous chain on both sides. Close jump ring.
  13. Using one 5" piece of 24ga wire, thread wire through 7/8" two-hole button openings. Secure at back of button by wrapping wire ends around each other once or twice. Thread wire through free end of chain. Wrap wire around back of button and chain a few times to secure. Cut loose ends.
