NOTES

1. Tunic is worked in 2 pieces: Front and Back.
2. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
3. Front and Back are worked in Fan Lace pattern with Moss st side borders, Lower edges are worked in K1, p1 Rib between the Moss st side borders.
4. When you see "as established" in the instructions, this means to continue in the current pattern st ensuring that the sts line up as in previous rows and maintaining the stitch count.
5. Front is divided for neck, then each side is worked with a separate ball of yarn. For the 2 smallest sizes, wind about 15 yd. of yarn into a small ball and set aside before beginning the Front.
6. Stitches for the neck edging are picked up around the neck and worked in K1, p1 Rib.
7. Sides of the Tunic are seamed just below armholes, then left unseamed to lower edge, creating side slits. If desired, sides may be seamed completely.

BACK
Beg at lower edge, with longer circular needle, cast on 83 (105, 127) sts. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle as if working with straight needles.

FINISHING
Seam shoulders. Place markers on sides of Front and Back, 8 (9, 10) in. down from shoulder seams. Seam sides of Front and Back below markers for about 3 (4, 4) in. or as desired. Leave remainder of sides unseamed to create side slits.
Neck Edging
From RS with shorter circular needle, beg at either shoulder, pick up and k70 (76, 80) sts evenly spaced around neck. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on the left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
Rnds 1-3: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
Bind off loosely.
