Felted Windy City Tote

SUPPLIES & TOOLS:

• Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool yarn: 1 skein each, Nature's Brown (A), Oatmeal (B) or colors of choice
• Lion Brand knitting needles size 10-1/2
• Washing machine, dryer
• Large-eye blunt needle

SIZE: 9-1/2"x14" after felting

GAUGE: 16 sts + 20 rows = 4" in St st (k on RS, p on WS) before felting.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

ABBREVIATIONS:

k = knit
p = purl
RS = right side
st(s) = stitch(es)
St st = stockinette stitch
WS = wrong side

DIRECTIONS:

TOTE:

With A, cast on 86 sts. Rows 1-5: With A, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Rows 6-10: With B, work in St st.

Rep Rows 1-10, 21 more times, rep Rows 1-5 once. Bind off.

HANDLES: Make 2

With A, cast on 7 sts. Work in St st until it measures 35" from beginning. Bind off.

FINISHING:

Fold Tote in half & sew side seams. Fold up corners & sew in place. Sew handles to tote 5" from sides & 3" below top edge. Weave in ends.

FELTING:

Machine wash in hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent& several pieces of clothing to agitate.

Dry by machine on regular setting until almost dry. Remove from dryer. Pull into shape.
