- Knitting needles size 9 (5.5 mm) or size for gauge
- Large-eyed blunt needle
- Tape measure
18 sts + 20 rows = 4"(10 cm) in Pattern st.
(multiple of 12 sts + 6)
Row 1: K3, *yo, k2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Rows 2 and 4: K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 3: Knit.
Rows 5 and 8: K3, *k3tog, k4, yo, k1, yo, k4; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Rows 6, 7 and 9: K3, *p3tog, p4, yo, p1, yo, p4; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Rows 10–18: Rep Rows 1-9.
Rep Rows 1–18 for Pattern stitch.
Work *18 rows with A, 18 rows with B, 18 rows with C; rep from * for Color Sequence.
With A, cast on 42 sts.
Beg with Row 1, work in Pattern stitch and Color Sequence until scarf measures 65" (165 cm) from beg, or 31?2" (9 cm) less than desired length, end with 18 rows with C. Change to A, work Rows 1–18 of Pattern stitch. Bind off.
Weave in ends.
